It depends on what your characters would name the gang. Are they kids? Then pick some pop-culture "badass" reference. etc.

The Crazies is a remake of a 70's flick, probably wouldn't work as well to change the name.

A George Romero flick to be exact. I'm sort of looking forward to it maybe.

I was making a joke about the movie/book 'The Warriors', but I see no reason why you shouldn't make use of the name. As you accurately stated, they do sound like a team.
