Also, Ubi, it's okay when Duke Nukem does it because it suits his character, but you can't just exchange the flag with a semi-inanimate woman in a game of capture the flag. Poor taste.
Dude, its a hostage, in here it was one woman, very likely in other levels its other people. Would it be poor taste if it was a man or a child? It had to be someone.
She literally didn't take a step back or forth without being taken by the arm by someone, when she wasn't being dragged around or treated like a human shield, she was just lying on her belly. She was constantly being traded back and forth from the Rainbow Team and the bad guys, but that's not the problem, the problem is, male, female, something in between, she was nothing more than a flag.

Heavily scripted, I know, but I really like the concept that they're showing.
Me too, it's a good change of pace of the usual multiplayer stuff. It feels a lot more subdued, controlled and methodical. I like that over the usual flashy, high-paced stuff we see. I daresay; this feels like a hardcore gaming experience to me.

I'm not understanding the cynicism displayed here. Shouldn't we be happy that these sort of games are considered to be viable again? That they're invested in again, that we're getting some much needed variation? I know I am.
Jesus Christ. That is not how multiplayer matches will look like. This is not a tactical and methodical game. It was scripted to look like it is. Every player in that trailer obviously followed a strictly choreographed route. They even missed obvious headshot opportunities for cinematic effect. You could do this same crap with Counter Strike and the only reason why it wouldn't look as impressive is the graphics. Make no mistake, anyone could have finished that round in less than 2 minutes.
Of course. That's been mentioned already, you're retreading that path. We've said we like the concept of it.

But it still ain't rushing around like a headless chicken as we have in, say, Call of Duty. It's small, it's focused, it's subdued. Just listen to the weapon effects. This isn't a game about bombastic flash as we've seen in shooters in the last few years. It's a nice change of pace, some variation and going by the other games we've been seeing it's another sign that we're moving away from the modern military porn we've seen so much of.

I, for one, am happy for that, and honestly I don't get why more people aren't.

To me the most notable thing from this heavily scripted demo is if this is a true Rainbow Six game there's no way you get that much gunfire without more bodies dropping. They showcased some interesting mechanics but with 5 on 5 play in close proximity where you can blow through walls or ceilings matches probably won't last more than 30-60 seconds.

Holy shit, have you ever seen a hostage situation? Do you really expect a hostage to do anything other then stay in a fetal position during a firefight? But no, its the patriarchy doing its thing, even if a member of the Rainbow Team is a woman they only exist to do nothing, am I right?

EDIT: Also its a game that needs an objective for a team base mode, Counter Strike has already done it and so have a shit load of other games with hostage situations like the previous Rainbow Six games.

eh, in older games, you had to restrain the hostages with zip ties so that they wouldn't move around like that anyway (you don't want complications like them attempting to escape in an uncontrollable matter, or one of the hostages turning out to be rogue and having free use of all of their limbs), so it ends up being something like that in the end, although not as much pass the briefcase situation as it is an objective

They should have made the people who did the voices for the Division videos to do this one too. They at least made a script sound natural. Other than the weird 'voice acting' I'm curious as to how much variety they will have in the game because it might get a bit old having to save hostages over and over. Obviously different environments will help but what else will the game have to offer? Bomb defusal? Kill all the terrorists?

Ok, concept on display looks really cool. I'd love a more tactical game with all sorts of breaching devices and barricading and shit. But that was not representative gameplay. The players were well-informed but deliberately stupid, terrorists were just as bad, and hostage clearly more scripted than they'd be able to be in-game. I don't know what Ubisoft's thought process is, but previews this heavily scripted are not assuring to anyone informed.

I wish there were more games that are just a ripoff of SWAT 4 (which could probably be called a ripoff of Rainbow Six Raven Shield, but whatevs).
I doubt the actual game will reach this level of fidelity, but I think the idea of having low numbers of players facing off against each other in an extremely close-quarter but destructible environment is pretty cool. The one thing I'm really skeptical about (apart from triple-A studios needing to cram more needless stuff into their projects to make it appeal to a wider audience) is how they'll handle the accuracy and strength of the guns, since as someone pointed out above, if the gunplay is anything like other shooters, it's doubtful any match will ever last longer than a minute.
