It's simple; a "day" on a planet is one full rotation, and no planet rotates at the same speed, so every planet has a different day length compared to a constant measurement unit such as Seconds (which have a fundamental definition now based on atomic oscillations). A year is the time it takes to do a full rotation around the sun, and all planets do this at different rates.

The final trick is the combination of the two; a planet can have a year that is fewer local days than an earth year (365 local days), but still have a longer year in seconds, or vice versa.

I'm not much of an astronomer, so I don't actually know the relative day/year lengths, but it will be different on every planet.

Now that you mention it... a Venus day is much longer than an Earth day due to Venus' really slow rotation, which makes the original fact a bit wrong.

I assume the slow rotation is to do with the motion being retrograde actually, because I don't think it started in a retrograde motion.

I could be wrong on that though...
