(This is not intended to put down the developers of games or bash the games in anyway, I won't sugar coat anything though.)
Alright, so Bleach: Soul Resurrection; is the FIRST Bleach game for PS3, and I have to say that I'm not "entirely" disappointed. The graphics and and aesthetics are fine and they are true to the series, the characters are crisp and the animations dead on. The biggest problem is the mechanics; accompanying that is the ability to completely chain attacks together to flatten an enemy without ever allowing them to touch the ground. The game feels unfinished (and yes I know this extends to EVERY game that has come out in the last years.) Since this current generation has been out (and the cost of making games has sky rocketed to hell) it seems like games are MASSIVELY undone.
I know that there are so many posts and complaints about this and I know people have looked into, up, and I just felt like adding my own look into the epidemic. I've noticed that the games coming out have problems, and I'm not talking about the specific issues and problems; I'm talking about the feeling that a game could have done things cleaner, better, without sacrificing on the developers end or the gamers that play.
I have to ask why are developers not looking for the cheaper way to make better quality games. I'm a future game development and design dreamer. I have BIG ideas and high ambition, but it seems like it's so hard to get into the industry without a leg and when you do it's damn near impossible to create the games you want because your so completely broke. Now, I've been cut to size realistically and I've revised my ideas and I continue to change and adapt them and I will continue to change them.
I just don't see how it's possible to create a game this day and age that is unfinished. Before making a game, you need the template, the layout, the story, the characters...etc. How in the world do you not plan the costs out better? Not do you not find the path of Cost vs Quality and still stay within' the time? I know that it takes hundreds of thousands to make games, and you want to plan the releases carefully, but I don't see what is holding developers back so far.
Ever single game now wants to be: a CoD, Battlefield, Halo, GoW BUT why do developers not cut out the ugly parts and keep the gooey quality. If your going to make COPIES of the so called BEST games ever, why are the carbon copies such trash? As far as I've been gaming, it seems like developers are making a million copies of the top FPS (because the PEOPLE seemed to feed into the hype) Why make another decorations game? The same game would make so much more money right? I have a problem because I can see the influences in some games, but the quality is cut out like a hole in a shirt.
Alot of games have this problem, and although I've learned what to buy, it bothers me that other people don't know what to buy. And by knowing what to buy we gamers can bring games back to quality over carbon copy. It takes time and money to make games and every company wants that 3 million sold mark, but why cut the steak out and sell the fat? It's our fault really as well, we keep buying the carbon copies, so the companies try to make as many more carbon copies as they can to milk the money cow hard as they can. On top of that, even shitty games make decent money? WHY? Because we are failing to buy quality games and corporations are squeezing the money hard without a care.
Now I know not ALL games and developers are doing the same thing, but at least 90% are. There has got to be more out there. Why are there 800 FPS games coming out by the end of 2012 (I'm over exaggerating, but count for yourself and give me a number..) And this doesn't just extend to FPS either...street fighter, I'm looking at you..final fantasy, you too. Mario, Sonic, Zelda. These are icons in gaming, why aren't they dead yet? (besides the money milking) I know it's all part of the massive cycle, but this is so crazy things are getting out of control.
I'm not saying stop loving your icons, but not buying carbon copies of decent games. Think about something more than the name please. I wish I could create 1000 beautiful unique games, but people would buy them for shit the way things are going.
The conclusion is, think about what your really buying and stop feeding into hype.
