What about Netflix AUS?

Oh yeah. Don't exist.
An New Zealand IP company is actually offering a mode for their broadband service that bypasses geo-blocking.

http://www.slingshot.co.nz/products/global-mode/about-global-mode/

And best of all it's free.

Content holders are currently shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly with geo-locking content, opening the way for pirates and opportunistic companies to say "we can't access this so ynaah! Screw you!"

If the likes of Netflix and Hulu were legally available in NZ I would be all over it, but they aren't so I spend my money elsewhere.

Really? Because I took a trip to the UK at the beginning of summer and found that when my selection of titles changed, because I was no longer in the US, that you guys had a much more diverse and interesting selection of stuff; in terms of television shows up on Netflix that is. Granted I've never really gone to Netflix for watching movies anyway, I've always preferred using it as a library of instantly accessible TV and here in the US they have a bastard of a time keeping some shows up to date with what's already aired.

America get BBC now and they dont even pay a TV license?????
Actually we only catch BBC America (a non-stop marathon of Gordon Ramsey, Star Trek: TNG, Top Gear, and Doctor Who depending on the day of the week) and BBC World News, and they are not part of our standard cable package.

Haha sounds like the tv channels here Dave and PICK TV, endless repeats but not in chronological order just random episode. See I think the US catalogue is more diverse, maybe it's because I've seen everything on UK Netflix.

You could always try something like Unblock Us or Blockless - if you've got a Netflix sub then an extra $5 a month gives easy access to every Netflix library in the world, pretty cool. You can use the moreflicks.com website to search for what you want, find out what library it's in, switch yours to match and away you go! Makes Netflix totally worth hanging onto :)

(I'm using Unblock Us and if you end up subscribing using my referral link [http://www.unblock-us.com/19725.html] I get a little sump'n, thanks in advance!)

You can change which version of Netflix you have access to. I don't know about doing it on a PC but it's very easy on an xbox or PS3. You only have to change the DNS settings. There are videos on youtube showing you how to do it. It only takes a minute too.

I would imagine that is to do with licensing issues, not Netflix being needlessly arsey towards European users over.

Netflix in the UK is still feckin' great. It costs £1.50 a week and there's lots of really cool content there... you can't really beat that. Value for money.
