Yeah...see I literally just spent 20 minutes trying and failing to decipher the new captchas on the Escapist forums.

The are literally unintelligible save for the first two letters.

Since I was unable to contact the help desk due to these very captchas. So I guess, this thread can be my complaint/feedback letter to them.
I am pretty frustrated that the things I wanted to say can't be said because the newest systems of bot prevention codes are so complicated even humans can't read them.

I think I will take those annoying NFL captcha advertisements than these.

Is anyone else getting these problems? Or is it just me?

Also mods, feel free to lock this thread once the issue is resolved.

If you want my take on the new captchas, well, let's just say that I didn't only get my pubclub membership in order to show off how many manga books I've read.

I'm fine at deciphering those captchas, but I hate the advertising ones, and it's not even because of the subject matter, some of the advertising captchas are 7 goddamn words long! It's absolutely ridiculous that these captchas are longer than entire posts are on other forums.

I have yet to come across with these "new captchas". I'll get back to you on the subject once I do. So far the only ones that were any bother were the "describe this brand using any word" kind, at least until I stopped trying to make sense with my answer and just typed 'nice' in all of them.

What's a captcha? >.>

OT: I don't know what the new ones are like but as I general rule I hate captchas. If they jumble the text up then I usually spend 2-3 minutes mashing my keyboard trying to get it to take my input. It's even worse when it's a site that refuses to save your settings if you fail at the captcha and have to re-enter every piece of information for every attempt.

So no, not usually a fan. Glad I'm not seeing them here.

Really? You've never seen a captcha here?
Granted a good chunk of them are simply type in word ads, but I've seen some legitimate word jumbling captchas from time to time.

The ones I saw yesterday were horrid.

The backgrounds consisted of horrendously clashing colors, the letters were either so loose, stretched, corrupted looking, or scribbled, that I could only decipher one word before the rest was nothing but babble.

I wish I had screenshot it to show.
But that was not something I was keen on running into again.

Imagine getting captchas like that, for literally 20 solid minutes. This was the best one I ran into today, but it was nowhere near as frequent or bad as the ones I had to decipher yesterday.

Most of those captchas consisted of really bad primary color clashes, horrendously warped letters(or at least they were supposed to resemble them.) and so many scribbles on top of those letters (of the same color) that I couldn't even begin to guess what the heck it was trying to say.
Worst yet was that some of them were numbers....of sorts. Based on the speaker version of those captchas.

I love it. I don't care if it means I won't be able to post, it would be worthwhile just to look at this fine work of art.

However if you were able to decipher one of these

Then you must be some kind of wizard.

Those were the only kind of captchas I ran into yesterday. I honestly believed that they were a new set.

EDIT: why won't the spoilers tag work ;_;

I couldn't get the captcha. I'm not human enough.

I guess that means I'm secretly a bot AI. I just pray that I don't run into those again at the frequency I did yesterday.

You've not had a fill in a survey on another site one yet?.

I always gave a dumb answer for those.

Can't believe I forgot those kinds.

I always put in 'cheap' in the hopes that flattery gets me through.

Usually I haven't even heard of the product.

It's simple enough to decipher once you realise they all have the same characteristic of being a segment from a Robert Frost poem printed backwards in Czech.

I only seem to get pretty normal jumbled letter ones, or the advertising ones where it asks you 'which of the four brands has the following strapline?' or whatever.
I did get a single utterly indecipherable one (kind of like the one you posted above), but I've not had one since. And I'm not even Pub Club.

Weird how they seem to vary so much among posters. Is it partially based on your location or cookie settings or something?

I have no clue. I have gotten all of the types of captchas people have gotten in this thread.
However for that one day yesterday, the only captchas I could get were un readable ones.
No matter how many times I refreshed, I just kept getting them.
I couldn't even send in a feedback form because all I kept receiving were unreadable ones. It was kind of frustrating.

That has got to be one of the most indecipherable Captchas I've ever seen.

I gotten moving ones, multiple choice question, and of course the advertising ones (you can literally smack the keyboard a few times and it will accept it as an answer, I usually just type 'shit') but I've yet to hit one of those.

They are horrific! Bad enough for people who read normally, those freaks of us that have had to learn alternative ways to read due to dyslexia are pretty much screwed ^^*

I have had plenty of Captchas that I can not decipher.
But the worst are the "Name this brand" or "Describe this brand" and AD based ones. I am from backwater frozen waste of Finland. I haven't ever seen these brands or logos.

Also having the unfortunate accident of dyslexia wont help with words that are longer than my full name...

+Those color things wont make it easier.
I think soon we will get Captchas that only typograph master and super computer can break or 15mins on google and a dictionary from 19th century.
Like how complicated do they have to be and are AD spammer really that big of an issue? I remember when there was no Captchas here it wasn't such issue that it bothered me, to be honest I didn't even notice them.
