Well really, how bad can it--

OT: I don't mind captchas -hell, some can be funny- up until they get in the way of posting by insisting you didn't input it correctly, despite the fact that you did, forcing you to fill in another one, which could be anything.

And as for OP's, that's not a captcha, that's a photo of some modern art from an unknown artist from Narnia, and is utter bullshit to decipher.

I havent seen such capchas. usually just normal ones for me. that is, whne capcha is actually capcha, and not a riddle i have to chosoe from a drop down list. and it does not even let me choose an ironic answer :(
Also it seems those "Define brand" capchas are getting more popular. problem is, i have never seen most of those brands in my life. so i type "." and they go away.

I am pretty frustrated that the things I wanted to say can't be said because the newest systems of bot prevention codes are so complicated even humans can't read them.

Jesus fuck.....

Sad thing is, there is most assuredly a crack for it already. To which I say "Congratulations, Escapist. You've made made it so legitimate members can't post, and spambots can."

I'm still getting the good old sentient captchas on The Escapist, but on other sites I have been getting ones with pictures of what I assume are the numbers on people's houses/doors. It's like I'm working for the NSA or something.

It looks like there are some greek characters in there. Maybe it's the equation that shows what happened before the big bang? You'll win the Nobel Prize in Captcha.

It normally isn't that bad for us.

But man, that had to be the most frustrating 1 hour in my entire life.

I'm fine at deciphering those captchas, but I hate the advertising ones, and it's not even because of the subject matter, some of the advertising captchas are 7 goddamn words long! It's absolutely ridiculous that these captchas are longer than entire posts are on other forums.

Though mostly I've been getting the "choose an answer" ones, which baffle me as to how they're going to beat bots.

Glad I'm not the only one suffering from these things, had to go through about 15 captchas the other day to get one that finally worked. Some of these things are so mangled I can't even tell how many letters they contain, much less what they are. And I don't mean "is that one or two letters?", I mean "is that 6 letters or a really jumbled 9 letters?"

Good Lord that is messed up! I'm glad I never get those kinds of captchas. I usually just get the advertisement ones, which I guess I should be thankful for.

I see symbols on there that don't exist on any keyboard I've seen let me tell ya. o_O

The worst part was that for some of those "words" a lot of them were actually numbers as well.

Oh my dear God... o_O
Is that a Phi or Teta on that captcha of yours?

I have yet to cross with that kind of captcha but geez, I sure hope I don't!
Since I'm more of lurker than anything, captchas rarely show up for me so I don't have that problem frequently.

Like I said in my OP, I was literally bombarded with these captchas and worse. They even had the audacity to be the MOVEABLE ones.

It was a posting nightmare for a long time. I was under the impression that Escapist replace their captchas.

If you want my take on the new captchas, well, let's just say that I didn't only get my pubclub membership in order to show off how many manga books I've read.
So the escapist is now "pay to win"?
Interesting...

Yeah, I had a nasty run-in with these captchas a while ago. Got so bad that I ceased posting for a good chunk of time.
Should this happen again, I'd probably have to retire to the user-groups...

I used to have PubClub membership, I let it lapse when I stopped using the forums so much, and then the captchas drove me away completely. I like the fact that sometimes you get a different one (the "pick one to answer a question" is quite nice, in a perplexing way, just for the variety) but unreadable captchas is always a problem.

I miss the days when Re Captcha being used to digitise books was a thing.

I have yet to come across with these "new captchas". I'll get back to you on the subject once I do. So far the only ones that were any bother were the "describe this brand using any word" kind, at least until I stopped trying to make sense with my answer and just typed 'nice' in all of them.

I love it. I don't care if it means I won't be able to post, it would be worthwhile just to look at this fine work of art.
So, who in the IT department did you piss off? Because I've never seen that kind of captcha in my life, so I'm assuming you pissed off the wrong computer nerd.

um... with that captcha, I read "zoom". The new ones use a lot of erroneous crap and random colors slapped over the top of letters.

I can see how it would be confusing, though... and admittedly I've gotten a few wrong.

Zoom.

(to be fair that first bit of random debris and last looks like an o/g so that can throw you off so I can see most people trying for ozooing).

I don't seem to be getting those CAPTCHAs though, I seem to ether get "type these words" or "type any word" (though in that second one you are supposed to write a word that applies to the advertisement but any word works ... even made ups ones.

OT: Ad captchas are the only ones that I don't like... but, mostly because of how long and how precise they want me to type them... only to get a error and another captcha that basically wants you to choose an answer to a question that I didn't study for on the captcha test...

Hmmm... Now, I wonder if I have any spare money lying around... I'm suddenly hungry for a burger at McDonald's and I don't usually enjoy eating there...

Imagine getting captchas like that, for literally 20 solid minutes. This was the best one I ran into today, but it was nowhere near as frequent or bad as the ones I had to decipher yesterday.

Most of those captchas consisted of really bad primary color clashes, horrendously warped letters(or at least they were supposed to resemble them.) and so many scribbles on top of those letters (of the same color) that I couldn't even begin to guess what the heck it was trying to say.
Worst yet was that some of them were numbers....of sorts. Based on the speaker version of those captchas.
I suggest clicking that left-most button a few times. Or maybe the middle one a few times to mix it up a bit. Get different captchas.
