Hello Escapist,

I just about had enough of gameplay in Mass Effect 1 (PS3) that I just rage quit. Seriously the story is great and so are the characters. BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!! the game play is a damn joke. Cover system barely works that you still get shot and lose health when you are behind cover, aiming is a fucking joke especially with a sniper rifle that does stay still and when you have a clear aim, the gun just moves. Am I the only one getting this and main question is what other games have made you rage quit and maybe even put you off finishing the game?

P.S. I have played Mass Effect 2 and 3 and in my honest opinion, ME2 has the better gameplay.

Tokyo Jungle gave me one of the bigger ragequits I've had.

I had already been getting increasingly more and more frustrated with it and when whatever eventually broke the camels back occurred I quit to the dash, erased my data and turned the machine off.

Fighting Typhon in Titan Quest: Immortal Throne was another. Ugh.

AND MITHANIEL MAR IN CHAMPIONS RETURN TO ARMS. WTF SNOWBLIND.

You do realise ME1 is an old game ? It was one of the first games this gen . Of course it isn't one of the best games . It was practically a launch title . So yeah , it's dated , what do you expect?

Don't use cover it is buggy and shit, just move behind walls and stuff.
The sniper is amazing don't you say anything bad about my sniper!!!!!!!! Ahem, it is a little hard to use at first but damn if it isn't satisfying. The gameplay is more run and gun, and less cover based.
1. Enter room
2. Run around walls shooting
3. Use powers
4. ???
5. Profit

I find ME1 combat way more fun than ME2 because you can run and gun, and it makes you feel like a champ. Or maybe it is just the unlimited ammo and non-nerfed powers...wtf global cooldowns, killed my awesome adept. Also, no weapon upgrades. Ugh, ME2 so disappointing.

I just made a shotgun so powerful that if it didn't outright kill whatever I shot, the force with which it threw enemies backwards would often glitch them into walls, where I could finish them at my leisure.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It's fun as hell but on Classic difficulty oh my days, RANDOM CRITS! FULL HEALTH?! MORE LIKE, DEAD LOL!

Everything is fine then suddenly my best guy is dead because a Sectoid did some bullshit noscope 420 blaze swag from across the map when he was in perfectly good cover.

I'm going for a Classic + Marathon run (I know, temporary lapse in judgement) so I have to wait ages for the good weapons and armour. I wanted to see how the game goes with a good amount of satellites up and the normal game time is a little short for that.

This is more a technical problem than a game problem, but I was playing the original Kingdom Hearts yesterday using an emulator (and before you say anything I did purchase it for the ps2 back in the day). I was fighting one of the tough optional bosses (Phantom) who I'd never beaten before. Just as I landed the final blow however... the emulator crashed. THIS WAS A 20+ MINUTE BATTLE WHICH TOOK ME 3 ATTEMPTS TO BEAT!!!!

ahem... So yes I rage quit after that.

Oh man Classic mode Ironman is the worst. Nothing quite like having your super pimped out assault trooper miss a 98% chance shotgun blast and then get owned by some motherfucking muton. And don't even get me started on cyberdisks or chrysallids...

Double "Maneaters" boos fight in Demon's Souls, I almost beat one, then another shows up and kills me, I got angry, and the PS3 turned off very quickly after that. Looking back I could have beaten both of them, I just need to be less stingy with my strong healing items. I like the game and all, but that fight rubbed me the wrong way. I wish that game wasn't so cruel to people who choose to focus on melee strength, especially since I had so much trouble with that fire boss monster.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Mobas, fuck mobas, they are designed to make you want to murder your fellows. They are rage incarnate, they are wrath in game form, they create blood lust. If they had mobas in the ancient world then humans would have invented nuclear weapons 3000 years ago specifically to wipe each other out.

Odd, I Mass Effect 1 has my favourite gameplay and I only played as a sniper on the hardest difficulty with little trouble whatsoever.

When it comes to gameplay that drives me to tears, look no further than the linear exploration game (Last Of Us). It kills all strategy and feels like a belt tightened to the point of breaking skin.

The pet battle system in WoW does my fucking head in. When you start doing the Pandarian Spirits and Beasts of Fable you constantly get fucked with RNG. It literally comes down to the wire and you pray for your opponent to miss. On the rare occasion they do actually miss you go in for the killing blow and your attack misses as well. I raged out last night at Dos'Ryga and literally Alt-F4'd and held the power button down on my PC.

Fucking asshole fish!

Don't know about anyone else but, um, I didn't have any of those troubles. I've played the series on the Xbox and PS3 and both seemed fine. Now, that's not to say I'm some 'uber'gamer and I'm great at cover-based shooters, I'm not. But the game play seemed just fine to me.

As for a game I've rage-quit? I'd have to say "Lord of the Rings: The Third Age". Except that it was the ending fight that made me furious...but I actually finished it...so it's not a real "Rage-quit". But I would have rage-quit if I could have, if the game would have continued, which would have sucked. But it didn't....

My brain hurts now...

Not a game, so much as a particular type of character in Skyrim. I was trying to create a fencer type character: Little to no armor, uses a sword, fights by "shield" bashing and then quickly striking. (As I had learned from previous characters that nothing is immune to shield bashing) It went decently for a while, until I started the main quest so I could get the Elemental Fury shout. My first fight with a Dragon (Not counting the Whiterun one, which is a joke) went quite poorly. It lands in front of me and immediately does a full health finishing move on me. I decide, ok, that was just random chance, I can just kill it before it does the chance to do that again. It proceeds to do the same thing ten more times. I like Skyrim and all, but full health finishing moves are ridiculous, especially with the whole impossible to dodge thing.

I think that most rage quits happen because players try the same thing over and over and still fail.

The cover system in ME1 is shitty, and I realized early on that I shouldn't rely on it, so I didn't use cover.

I did "ragequit" a few times in TF2 recently because I got stuck with a very weak team. I just didn't see a reason to bother waiting for a scramble when I could just try another server.

Trauma Center, the level where you have to save 5 patients in 10 minutes. At my best I saved 2. I literally took the catridge and threw it across the room. Wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped.

Also fuck Rhythm Heaven and its arbitrary judging system. You can't quit mid-song, which made it even more frustrating to make a mistake.

Please stop. It's hyperbole. It's a thing. It's aways been a thing, along with metaphors, personification, exaggeration, figures of speech, and any other of the countless ways you can use language in a figurative fashion. Get used to it.[footnote]It should be noted that you probably could count them if you wanted to. So they aren't actually countless. I exaggerated.[/footnote]

Anyway...Oh yeah, I've rage...ragequitted? Ragequat? Is it still just rage quit, in the past tense? Oh well, I've done it. Any time I've been doing the same thing for a long time and then narrowly avoid success for one reason or another. Although it's more likely to happen if the fault wasn't mine, and I was just unlucky. Worst one was probably the final boss of Shadow of the Colossus. Got thrown off the fucking thing about 20 minutes into a single go, after climbing the fuck multiple times and hitting it so much that it's health literally could not be seen in the bar. A goddamn sneeze could've finished him off. The worst part was that the game waited just long enough before showing the game over screen to make me think Wander was about to get up, and I could roll into one of the tunnels and climb the bastard again. I was getting all pumped up to make my move, and then the game over screen appeared.

It....wasn't pretty.
