So I should probably go out and buy Quest for Booty then? It was a tenner in the shop I saw it last.

Thanks for that, I guess this can now just be a Ratchet and Clank appreciation thread :D
Quest for Booty is DL only. What are you smoking?

That said, if it says Ratchet & Clank on the box, GET IT!

EVEN IF YOU ALREADY OWN IT!

GET IT TWICE!

Get it infinity times!

This link says otherwise :D It's cheap enough too so I may just go and get it when I'm next in town and have a spare tenner.
Huh. I've NEVER seen it on shelves here in NA...I just other regions got a disc release.

GET IT!

[HEADING=1]TOPIC TITLE IS FACT![/HEADING]

There's a reason the only poster in my room is a Ratchet & Clank poster. Actually, I think it came in the box with the original game...And I think it's double sided. I'd have to take it down to check, though.

Storylines are mostly standalones, with references to others.

Only Tools of Destruction has a "direct" sequel with Crack in Time.

Crack in Time has a very nice plot summary, though.

That said, since the first one lacks the improved strafe controls of the sequels, I feel it is inferior to all of the rest of the games in the series. And Crack in Time even improved wrench throwing, by not forcing you to crouch. Hell, you can't crouch.

But my favorite is Deadlocked, for taking the Arena battles (my favorite part of ANY of the games), and making the entire game around them.

I'm still amazed they've gone this long and can STILL think up such highly original weaponry.

Insomniac actually is my favorite developer of all time, now that I think about it!

Hell, R&C is the reason I gave in and got a PS3 a few weeks ago. Everything else is just icing on the R&C cake.

Also, download Quest For Booty.

It's $15 for about 3 hours, but goddamnit, it's RATCHET AND CLANK. Those are 3 hours of quality! And you get a Pirate Ratchet skin for Crack in Time!

Screw Naughty Dog, Insomniac is the king of Playstation.

PS1
Spyro > Crash

PS2
R&C > Jak

PS3
R&C > Resistance > Uncharted
I gotta say, I'm torn between whether Ratchet & Clank or Jak & Daxter is superior. Otherwise, I completely agree. I just bought Spyro: Year of the Dragon off of PSN and I can't stop playing it.

Actually, let's put Uncharted ahead of Resistance.

PS1
Spyro > Crash

PS2
R&C > Jak

PS3
R&C > Uncharted > Resistance

And that's the only change I'm making there.
I second this order!

Spyro was better than Crash but Crash was still brilliant.

I can't believe that you've only played one of the worst games in the series. The second and third games are two of my favourite games of all time. There truly imaginative, hilarious and incredible fun.

Yeah, I guess I was really into Platformers on the Ps1, the only real platformer I played on Ps2 was Jak and Daxter and I didn't like it, I thought Ratchet and Clank would be similar, I was more into JRPGs on my Ps2, it was only till I saw it for cheap that I thought y'know may aswell

Ratchet and Clank 2 Going Commando is the third best game of all times
Ratchet and Clank 1 is incredible
Ratchet and Clank 3 Up Your Arsenal was boring, it's bad
R&C 4 sucked balls. the draw of the R&C games is a shit ton of weapons, not 10,
and I never played the Future games because of the amount of shitty in 3 and 4
but they might be good

and I think Jak is better than Ratchet & Clank
mostly because they tie for gameplay and Jak has R&C beat everywhere else

my favourite of the series is the latest crack in time, even better than tools of destruction, more qwark, better guns and these cool time puzzles

yes, but its so cheap because its a 3-4 hour mini adventure to link the Tools... and Crack in time story together, crack in time is the best so far

OP IS NOT STOOPID.

WAT SICK MAN POOT R&C BELOW JAK?

But yeah, I really liked the R&C series back in my PS2 days.

R&C 2 was probably my favourite. Lots of stuff to do, unlike R&C 3. Gladiator (AKA Deadlocked or whatever) was pretty good too. That spider tank was bitchin' cool. And ever since I played C&C back in the day, any weapon that summons shit from space is good in my book.

I think the R & C series has just been underrated for so long because people perceive them to be kiddie platformers. They are high-quality titles though.

Yes, the PS2 ones are all amazing. Get every one. There isn't a big arching storyline in them, but theres still plot references and rewards like free weapons if your memory card has a beaten file for the previous game, so its best to play them in order. That order is
Ratchet and Clank(of course)
Ratchet and Clank Going Commando(or Locked and Loaded depending on where you live.)
Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal
Ratchet Deadlocked(or Gladiator. Note this one has no platforming)
Enjoy. These games will keep you having fun for years

Look what I just found!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratchet_%26_Clank:_All_4_One
The awesomeness continues :D:D

OT: Yeah I've played R&C from the beginning, the best in the series for all round gameplay, humour and weapons is probably Ratchet And Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal, followed closely by Crack In Time.
They're all great, but if you have to pick, check those out.

On a side note, anyone else noticing how nearly every title is a euphemism? :p

Where I live R+C2/3 were just called R+C2/3, without a subtitle. I've never heard of anyone else on the internet like this. Do I just live somewhere weird?

My R+C2/3 discs got scratched so I can only play them up to a certain point (unless I'm really lucky and it decides to load properly for some reason). Which is a shame, since they were probably my favourite PS2 games.

You have not played a Ratchet & Clank game until now? For shame! You have been missing out on one the best game series ever! The games on the PS2 are, for the most part, very good. I would not recommend getting the original, because the shooting controls in that one are terrible. Going Commando and the rest are all must buys though. My personal favorite is Up Your Arsenal, because it has the best story in the series so far, as well as drastically improved shooting controls.

Ok so I'd never played Ratchet and Clank before, I managed to pick up Tools of Destruction in the 4 for 20 quid section at GameStation and...wow, it's amazing. Are all the Ratchet and Clank games this good?
Can anyone tell me if the whole story is continuous, from 1 to the most recent game? Or is it in a different order or something?

Let me know people!
I like the way you think, as well as your avatar. Tsukasa FTW

I've never heard of that either. What country do you live in exactly? And I hope that glitch happens late in. 2 and 3 were my favorites as well. Personally, they're two of the few games I'd get a new copy of if glitched, even after having them so long.
