Good, but a little too......blunt is, I think, the best descriptor I can come up with. Nirvana is a good band, but that was too fast and too brash for my tastes. I prefer slow, epic, climactic songs (with a few exceptions), in case you hadn't noticed. :D

and live too?
Nuuu, no, that's the album version. I am of the opinion that live performances have to be experienced from beginning to end to have any real meaning. If you want, I can send you a list of performances once they get back on their feet (Brian leaving was kind of unexpected). They mostly tour around Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Pennsylvania, but there are the occasional outliers and, hey, there's always music festivals. :)

Shinedown is one of those bands that I kind of detest on a philosophical level, but this is an excellent song. Part of it may be that I first heard it in concert with this AMV (which is one of the few I've ever enjoyed), but I still occasionally set my alarm system up to crank this if I need to get up.

5/10 I didn't like either of the singers voices...<.<

Voted as the 3rd best Nirvana song in a BBC poll right behind Smells Like Teen Spirit and Heart Shaped Box but of course there is more than one version...<.<

The Strokes are very good, musically, but I just cannot stand their singer's voice. >_>

I had never heard of these people til I listened to a mix on 8tracks. This song just made a huge impression on me, and I think I'm going to look around for more by them.

7/10 the singers voice didn't fit the instrumentals very well imo... but that solo was pretty awesome...<.<

I like me some grunge...<.<

Grunge has never been my thing. I can appreciate a bit of grunge in an otherwise clean song, but my Dad brought me up listening to Jazz and Classical, and I received voice training from ages 8-16, so I have an ingrained preference for precision and clarity in music. In other words, every grunge song I listen to will receive a "meh" from me.

Proving my point about "a bit of grunge," this is a cover of a Soundgarden song. I prefer this version, and I haven't analyzed why yet. >_> Probably shouldn't, I ruin enough songs for myself. :D

So in other words you miss the point of why grunge is enjoyable... it's supposed to sound dirty and unstructured...<.<

9/10 Mr. Cash does some damn good covers, often times better than the original... case in point...

Precisely, overplayed as this phrase may be, I don't "get" it.

Anyway, musical preferences aside:

Enjoyable and peppy, if a bit repetitive. Doesn't outstay its welcome, certainly.

I have a playlist with this on it. It's called "Songs to Fight By."

Great Rage song. It also happens to be on my "Songs to Fight By" playlist. :p I adore that opening riff, it's so simple but powerful. And the lyrics may be preaching to the choir, but it's an important message. Simply an amazingly powerful song.
