I recently found Empty Walls again while cleaning my room and popped it into my car's stereo. I had completely forgotten how much I enjoy his social commentary format and his extremely distinct vocal patterns.
Really that sadness and emotion was always part of their charm... it's sad but never to an extreme where it just becomes draining and uncomfortable or whinny and unsympathetic...<.<
OT: 6/10 very up beat and peppy but lacking substance... well as far as I could tell... she could be singing about the horrors of genocide in Nazi Germany for all I know...
Raw emotion expressed through music is imo the highest form of art able to be expressed through music... tis why I like Nirvana so much, especially the third album where Cobain's depressed, addicted to heroine and on the verge of suicide you can feel it on every song on the album from the first to the last, with Scentless Apprentice a fast and frantic expression of anger and disobedience to All Apologies, a grim, remorseful and yet blunt piece expressing his complete displeasure with his life and the world around him... looking back on it now it can really be seen as his final stark swan song...
Though the album would've been perfect if the record company didn't make them switch out "I Hate Myself And I Want To Die" for "Very Ape"...
hear that it's the voice of complete and utter anguish...
