Yeah, pretty much this.

Damn you, PS3 tech demo - you're such a tease.

Sacrifice. If summoning a giant volcano to spew lava into the sky is already cool, imagine how it would look 11 years later.
Yeah, Sacrifice was the best!
Dunno if it would really need a remake though, it still looks pretty nice.
That's my point. If it already looks good, imagine how awesome it would look with modern day graphics.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance or Kotor. Both games would have new life breathed into them and newer folks to gaming would get a pair of outstanding games.

Are we talking about taking a game and remaking it with FANCYPANTS graphics? If so, Arcanum. That would be GLORIOUS.

Are we talking about taking a game and remaking it with crisper textures and stuff but leaving the graphics more or less intact? If so, System Shock 2.

Seriously, why do you do this to me? Rattling off all my favourite games ever...

Dammit, now I can't decide. I suggest a demented crossover/mashup game!

Morrowind.

There are mods to make it a little better, but they're very, very inefficient.

So, considering that, do you really want that remastered, drawn out, and made into one of those obscenely long Xenosaga cutscene lengths, where developers show off all their details and draw it out?
... um, YES!

I loved Xenosaga. Even if 2 was pretty much unplayable, I banged my head against that concrete wall until it fell over for those cut scenes. So yes, damn freaking straight I want that. With a side of the video mode from Xenosaga 3 where you could rewatch all the cut scenes as a movie after you beat the game.

Because I have, you know - rewatched the game as a cut-scene miniseries. I just wish they'd done that in Xenosaga 2 so I didn't have to spend that section of the story on YouTube.

Edit: Perhaps I should add that I do this because Xenosaga/Xenogears is, IMO, the best story ever told in gaming. The prettiness of the cut scenes wasn't the important part - the story was. Just to make that clear.

No... Its not that. Its hard to explain without looking like I'm trolling.

To me, FF7 was kinda meh. I mean, it was high end Meh, but it was Meh. And the whole iconic, OMG, SEPHIROTH KILLED AERIS NOES!!1!!1 just didnt impact me. I mean, it did, but not on the level that I hear people tlak about. To them, that was like Old Yeller getting put down. That was their childhood dying. Now, considering that, and how people of that generation talk up FF7 for more then it was, and how it was the greatest thing to hit RPGs since the first RPG gave me a bad taste in FF games and somewhat marked then end of them. So, considering that, do you really want that remastered, drawn out, and made into one of those obscenely long Xenosaga cutscene lengths, where developers show off all their details and draw it out? Or to make a new generation of kids who will do that again?

Arguably, its better then the generation now that says CoD and Halo is the shit and nothing is better then fragging a n00b and cursing them out with slurs because no one knows who they are (I'm starting to believe that anonimity is for their benefit, not ours), but not by alot.

So, without tryingt to sound like I'm trolling, or elitist, or whatever else anyone wants to call me, its not that I hate FF or FF7 in particular, i just dislike the people it creates. Some of my favorite RPGS are FF3, FF6, and FF9 (I know).
I absolutely agree that some people do take it a bit far but it is still their own opinion. Personally I do not like RPGs never have, but I like FF7 for one reason only, the story. Games to me are all about immersion, think about the best game you have ever played and think about how involved you got with the game. That is exactly how I got with FF7, I am not saying this is my favorite game but it sure does have a great story that you can lose yourself in. To me a game is good if you can lose yourself in it and I would love for a game like that to be remastered so it can be retold over and over again.

All in all I believe that is what FF7 taught more then anything, immersion value. Also F.Y.I. it didn't sound like you were trolling, you were giving your honest opinion and I 100% respect that. *THUMBS WAY UP*

Pong. I think the artistic statement of remaster pong in HD with the fanciest graphics available, if people actually get the joke so to speak, will send a message to the games industry.

Oka, I get that. I dont know, like I siad, its not a bad game. But I just see it as a way for the FF people to shove more melodrama between aeris and Cloud and Sephiroth and thats something that the game definitely can do with out. But then again, I'm in the minority.

I have nothing against story telling, I will say that FF (as a whole) is one of the better story telling games I've seen. Same as the Xenosaga games. So its not that I'm knocking them and saying they're bad, just that there's a lot of filler and stuff that doesnt need to be there and makes it seem sappy. Without them, the story would seem a bit better (though I'm not sure what you'd take out, I havent played either series in years since I finsihed and and when i started picking up Persona games, which are what immerse me).

bUt I'll leave this alone. I dont want to start an argument.

No, that's fine. To each their own and all that.

I was just pointing out that your comment about turing FF 7 into something like Xenosaga... well, that's like my dream come true. ^^ (Well, that and more Xenosaga/Xenogears games.)

But my point was that your negative was my positive. So yes, that's exactly what I'd like to see. Or, well, more like Advent Children level graphics. **drools at the thought**

especially after that cock-tease that PS3 hardware demo. (if you don't know, they had a HD cut-seine from FF7 to show it's graphical capabilities)
I did not know that but I would agree that is such a tease...........*cries in a corner*
sorry to do this to you but...

everytime i see this i get freaking pissed off that its not already out.

OT: unlike the ff7 kiddie inside me squeeling to come out

i am going to say ff6

its very very sad for me to say this..i almost hate myself for it...

but it's too hard for me to enjoy that graphical mess of a game, i hate 2D rpg's like that and i cannot get immersed by it at all, if there was an HD polished remake, i'd highly consider it.

KotOR, without question.
I've beaten it over 50 times, and I'd buy it again if it was made in HD and made to run smoother.

Skies of Arcadia, though i'd settle for them hurrying up and making the sequel.

Also, any final fantasy game that would utilise the depth and uniqueness of a game world such as Just Cause 2. discovering hidden ruins not on the map or a giant statue of the gods would be spectacular

I know it's possibly in the works, but the original Halo would be great with HD graphics, and a maybe some multiplayer over Live.
I've never actually played the entire game before, just a few levels here and there at various friend's houses, so a CE remake would suit me just fine.
Rumor has it that this may already be on the way. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/114/1147863p1.html

OT: I'd say the original Soul Reaver. With architecture and creature design as great as that game had, I can only imagine how bloody wonderful it would look with an HD overhaul.

Red Alert 2 would be my choice for HD re-releasing. It might be my nostalgia, it might be because that game was fucking awesome but I know that Red Alert 2 was hella fun. My second choice would be probably one of the older pokemon games.

The Movies !!!

seriously, that was an awesome game, it had competition, management, economization, making MOVIES, building placement, movie awards each year, it's basically a fictional version of Hollywood

I'd prefer Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. But trilogies are being rereleased so perhaps all 3 of the Legacy games would be nice.
