I don't see why I should be so ashamed of my hobbies that I should hide them from the public, but I keep getting weird looks when I challenge people to naked interpretive dance battles in the streets.
Heh, pretty funny! X-) But you do make a good point! Who needs a day to read comics out and about? If you like it, don't be afraid to show the world! That's why I don't care what people think about my beliefs in astrology. Don't like it? Well, tough shit!

And while we're on that particular topic, the character on your avatar is wearing a shirt with the symbol for Gemini even though, according to your profile, you are a Cancer (July 3rd). It's a little confusing. Just sayin' ...

Hmmmm
Since I don't know the story of the Maus comics (I've never been a comic kind of guy), I can't exactly say if I should laugh or say "Dude, that's not funny. Fucker!" :-/

By the way, totally off-topic, but I find your profile pic irritating. It's not the art style or anything like that, but because I feel bad for that stick figure character who's trying to eat his cereal and he has to keep getting the cat off. 24 hours a day, all day, every day all year long.

That's why I find it irritating: I feel really bad for him and I want him to enjoy breakfast in peace. <:'-(

I don't often read my comics in public but that's because I don't want them spoiled in any way...
It's a strange choice of day but could also be quite a funny sight, seeing hundreds of people in town centres all sat, enjoying their comic books in silence like some odd painting. I'd love to see that.

EDIT: Awesome avatar of Mogo btw, OP!

Actually my Social Studies class is gonna read that this year.

OT: I am ashamed slightly of playing DA:O and watching MLP but everything else I'm completely fine with.

Was this yesterday? Cause I saw a woman reading a manga book on the train and it seemed out of place for some reason.
How old was this woman? If she was younger it might point towards a further dissolution of the geek culture being taboo, if she were older well it would be all the cooler somehow.

I am most definitely not ashamed of my geekhood. That said, I don't talk about it much, because I have no one to talk about it with. :(

I just don't have any nerdy friends. You can't imagine how lonely it is, not being able to talk about The Guild or Doctor Who or Mass Effect or Watchmen (just to name a few) to anyone without being seen as a total lunatic.
Even worse, I can't be as nerdy as I want to be, since some things require other people. I'd like to get into Warhammer 40K, but can't, because no one would be interested. /whine

Ah, well. Maybe someday I'll find a nerdy "group".

I'd say she was in her late thirties or early forties. So older, really.

umm what is your point? there are a lot of books considering the holocaust as well why is 1 comics that tells the story of their situation in the holocaust using mice should make comics a thing to be ashamed at? i would realy like you to explain your point...

He saying the opposite, that Maus is an example of why people shouldn't be ashamed of reading comics, especially in Israel because of the relevance of the holocaust.

Great book, my dad had a copy which he bought because he's a history buff not a comic fan, I read it long before I really got back into comics.

I strongly believe that's what he meant as Maus is a moving piece of work that really transcends the whole comic medium.

When one of the deepest historical impacts on Israel is explained in a comic book, and held up as one of the greatest TPBs in history, the idea of shame being attached to it is rather ridiculous.

nah...I got over it, anyone who doesnt like it can get fucked, their hobbies arnt better than mine

anyway I would read a comic in public If I had one (still got to get myself a copy of "the killing joke")

only thing Is I dont bother talking about/explaining certain things to certain peopl because they wont get it, (unless they ask, then Id be glad to)
