i wouldn't mind seeing Transgender and Depression topics. how it affects that person and stuff
I would love to see a game with a realistic depiction of a trans character. As for depression, I'm playing through the rpg Winter Voices which is all about that. You even have a huge skill tree (snowflake shaped) to choose for powers and they all represent different ways people deal with depression and trauma in one's life. Bit clunky of a game, but I'm enjoying it, not many rpgs have tactical 'battles' that focus solely on defense.

Prostate exams, I think the next 5 or so GTA games should tackle the subject in depth.

No but seriously if a subject is brought up to set the scene for an epic adventure then fine, but if you intend to pin me down with that shit then I'm not buying your games.
I don't turn to gaming to get depressed, real life issues is the sort of shit I get to deal with in real bloody life, if it was all candy and peaches I wouldn't need games at all.

Personally, none. I want to play games to have fun and escape from all those issues.

But if it did do one, possibly addiction. Considering the medium can sometimes get slammed due to addiction, having a game that addresses addiction within itself could be done quite cleverly.

Nah, video games shouldn't try to do that sort of thing.

They should leave that serious stuff to the boring mediums like books and those shitty French "art" films. After all, they're called video games. Games are meant to be fun. Anybody remember fun? Y'know, that thing that games used to have before all the pretentious pricks and ugly women came along and started ruining it?

I play games to get away from real world problems. I don't need that shit getting crowbarred into my leisure time.

We need more games that put me in the shoes of a manly man with lots of really big and suspiciously phallic looking guns (or swords, those are cool too, just so long as they're phallic looking) who shoots other big, manly men to show that he's tougher than them all. Also, he should have some big tough friends who constantly tell me how much more manly and powerful I am than them. Oh, and a few hot babes with hardly any clothes who constantly mention how much they want to have sex with me. And as you play the game gives you increasingly bigger guns and bigger swords with bigger numbers attached to them.

Nowhere near enough games like that if you ask me. Nowhere near enough fun.

Fuck stories. Fuck characters. Fuck emotion. Fuck themes. Fuck philosophy. Fuck introspection.

Fuck all that. Games exist for the sole purpose of indulging me with fantasies of power that allow me to express simulated dominance over digital images that resemble people/creatures/monsters who would scare the living shit out of me if they were real. It makes me feel better about my near complete lack of genuine power in the real world.

That's what it's all about you see. Fun!

Not sure if serious, or sarcastic...

Not that I mind either way of course, everyone has their own preferences. Me? I like games that get a bit serious, make you question things, puts you in someone elses situation and make you realise "huh, my life is pretty good compared to this".
OT: Sexuality. Not fanservice sex, but realistic sexual identity. Like an FPS with a cookie-clutter male marine, with a jaw like a lantern and biceps the size of his face... and a pencant for men with goatees and a rough voice, or something. My point is, a game that deals with sexuality as just another part of your personality instead of a stereotypical cliche or "look how politically correct we are!" type of thing.

A game about transgender or crossdressers would be a good one, relationships beyond the boyfriend/girlfriend stage so you start the game in a long lived romance and you play the rest of the game seeing how the partnership works with no one getting kidnapped or left at home. I'd also like to see a game work with the idea that you can't succeed at everything you do.

I was being sarcastic. Very, very, very sarcastic.

It worries me that people can't seem to tell. I realise that sarcasm is hard to convey with text, but you'd think the sexist comments and saying that there aren't enough games like the one I described would set a few bells a-ringin'.

Believe me, I've seen/met enought people who would say that sort of things with outmost conviction. When I realised that I had to ask to make sure I lost a little faith in humanity again.
Altough, to be fair I didn't read your post so thouroghly, my bad.

I cannot for the life of me tell if your being serious or not, but if you are, you're a very sad human being. I'd also like to point out that 99% of games follow that exact plot you mentioned, so you have more than enough. You should watch some Extra Credits, and realise games are not, and should not, just be about fun. Just look at Spec Ops 'The Line'.
Kinda quoted the wrong guy there dude, but yeah, he was being sarcastic.

I'd like to see a modern realistic war shooter set in the Middle East, told from the point of view of an unarmed civilian. No regenerating health, only medkits dropped by dead militia. You can't fight, you can only hide and run. The game would contain scenes of your home destroyed by a drone, you making it to a refugee camp only to discover that it's run by your oppressive government or a terrorist group, and towards the end you would be captured and sent to Gitmo.

Honestly, I couldn't say... Games like Spec Ops, that kinda idea, I'd like to see more often and maybe some more Jaaaaaaaaaaaames Sunderland-esque adventures...

Do people really take "phallic looking guns" seriously? I have so much to learn about English.

Well, I don't know. When I think about it, there are few good stories about love/loss and this is a recurrent theme. Anything insightful would make me happy.

Re: FUN and SPEC OPS: TL

Here's some of campster's Errant Signal thoughts on it. I like his commentary, it's got the academic reflection of Extra Credits without getting so evangelical and precious. He's a smart, articulate guy worth listening to if you like thinking about this stuff.
