All right so in one way or another we either have owened rock band or some guitar game, but have any of you ever played, or want to play a musical instrument?

I started the piano when I was but a mere child, and I am still learning how to play the guitar.

I was in a band in highschool. Played lead guitar and did some backing vocals. We did mostly cover songs, and the stuff we wrote could be described best as being Sublime meets Led Zeppelin.

We broke up when we went to different universities and I never formed a new one after that, so my guitar playing has become more of a pastime/way to pick up chicks as opposed to a money making skill. I've been thinking of starting another, and I've got a bass player lined up already (my roommate) in case I ever want to start that again.

I started with the piano but became an angsty teenager so I decided to play the guitar. About a year later, I picked up an ocarina in a Seattle street market for kicks and I got decently well at that. Then while in a band, no one had the tolerance for public humiliation like I did so I had to be singer. And then I started listening to cake and realized that trumpets and rock band or fucking awesome so I learned to play that. I still practice all five in parallel although arguably I do best at Guitar. I also play bass guitar but never played it in a band so I can't really count it.

I play saxophone in my school jazz band, and occasionally pop over to my friends band and do bass for some songs. And I also play the harmonica, if that counts.

I've always liked the idea of playing a stringed instrument, possibly the cello, but the only musical opportunities I had whilst growing up were in the school band and that was right out- I thought to myself, no way in hell am I giving up summer vacation time to do this. They didn't do strings, anyway- our school was far too small for that.

Like a lot of you, the Guitar Hero line makes me want to learn the guitar, but I'm far too busy with video games for that sort of thing.

I've been in a handful of bands. I'm currently in a coffee shop's house band doing blues and acoustic music and I'm looking for people to play in my rock opera about zombies, The Waking Dead.

*hits himself in the chest with a trombone* Hurr durr hurrrrr.

I'm musically retarded. I tried to learn to play violin and guitar. Failed. I tried to learn to sing. Failed. I tried to learn to keep a fucking beat. Failed. I can't dance either.

Basically, if it's music, I can't do it.
are you white?

I've used the search button. And I play guitar, bass, and trombone but I've got like 300 different exotic instruments in my house that I can relatively play. Playing real music is much more fun than playing Guitar Hero but I will admit showing off at a Best Buy is a lot of fun.

I play drums, guitar, tuba, and trombone. Never actually been in a band outside of school stuff, none of my friends are really interested in that.

Piano, failed, violin, did okay for 4 years, then got bored, cello, same as violin, and guitar (the only instrument I actually enjoy playing) A year or so, and I'm getting better.

I played bass guitar and guitar in a highschool band. I miss it, actually. o.o I played drums for a little while, but that was more just for fun. I wasn't very good at them. XD

That being said, playing drums in RockBand is fun as hell and I don't fail completely. Whoo.

I've been playing guitar for about 4 years now, double-bass for 2 years (in the school band, it's pretty sweet), and I played 2 years of clarinet in school.

I can make interesting movements towards a wide range of instruments.

In other words, nothing.

I have been told however, that my singing vibrato is painfully excessive. I suppose that counts as some level of tutelage. Although by that standard i'm a proffesional Resistance 2 instructor; 'what is this, amatuer hour!?'

I played recorder in Lower School, that's kinda like Rock Band right?

In all seriousness, I tried to play a bass after playing Rock Band and honestly the difference (or lack thereof) was startling...

If you don't mind me asking, what are these exotic instruments? first thing that comes to mind is a Banjo, then some kind of ancient African drum. I'm probably way off, though.
