I've been playing guitar for about 4 years now, double-bass for 2 years (in the school band, it's pretty sweet), and I played 2 years of clarinet in school.
Double-bass? You mean 8 string?

I played trumpet way back in the day. I play bass and am learning the guitar because I got tired of whalloping people in Guitar Hero, and then having to hear the inevitable, "Oh yeah? Well, can you play a real guitar?" On a related note, if any of you Escapists live in Tallahassee, FL and want to play sometime, PM me.

If you don't mind me asking, what are these exotic instruments? first thing that comes to mind is a Banjo, then some kind of ancient African drum. I'm probably way off, though.
Well I do actually have an African Talking drum at my house.

And other interesting instruments that would take a while to describe.

Double-bass is a tonal range lower than bass.

I play saxophones.

Drums. I've only ever come into contact with a drum kit once in my life, and it was one of the most fun moments I've ever had.

I play drums, guitar, tuba, and trombone. Never actually been in a band outside of school stuff, none of my friends are really interested in that.
Ah there is another person that plays the Tuba and Drums. Good man!

In school I played in a number of orchestras, once I left I joined 4 more. Busy, barely had time for my uni work, but still fun.

I play several saxophones. Jazz, classical, and rock piano, and am currently learning drums and guitar.

I play drums now, and I am trying to get into a band in High-school next year. Drums get a lot of pent up energy out and are just amazingly fun.

I can play the piano and the guitar well enough to be good entertainment at parties. Other than that, I know maybe 2 songs on the recorder that I still rememebr from grade school.

I played at my school's Drum Circle.... so my musical experience is pretty much worthless. I might pick up playing the guitar as a hobby once I finish college, if I have the time.

Seems a little sad to me when you define playing instruments as "real life Rock Band", but I digress. I can play the trombone. I started in middle school, but I don't play any more. I never actually learned to play music, I had a kind of personal notation. I'd have the number of the position and an arrow to show if I had to make it higher or lower. Probably wouldn't work if I wanted to get more serious into it. Other than that, I play a little guitar and I rock a good Jembe(however you spell that)
all I could think of the time sorry, but at least pompus little you, still spent time posting.

I was in a band for 3 years...it started out as me and some guy I worked with jamming after work and became us as best friends and a home recording studio. My (now-ex) wife then skipped the city one morning with my then 6-month old daughter and, prioritizing my little girl over my band had to eventually move back to my home-town that i wanted to leave so bad that I moved out of it by mountain bike.

I really haven't played music seriously since.

I play Drums, Bass, Clarinet, Saxophone, Guitar and (if I really have to) sing.

i was in band in elem. and middle school
played clarinet mostly
learned flute, oboe, bass clarinet, piccolo, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, trombone, percussion, a little bit on piano that i've forgotten and i believe thats all. sadly, my band teacher in middle school ruined me as far as music goes and thats what i wanted to do was play professionally so....haven't played much since getting out. oh and had friends teaching me guitar in high school. but we fell out of touch.
also learned to read and write sheet music for all of the above instruments as well as conduct.
i think my favorite to play was the timpani though :)

4 1/2 years playing electric guitar.
Played in two bands, first time I did the whole James Hetfield thing with Seek and Destroy to some family and friends, then got very drunk.
The other time played rhythm/lead guitar in my current (soon to split) band 'Latria', played 3 of our own songs to a bunch of people we barely know, who were all fangirls to this other band. Have never been so nervous in my life.
But yeah, looking to form a band playing prog metal stuff. I am the only person I know that wants to be in a band of that style. =[

If you think you want to learn, stop dreaming and invest in one, even if you are not very good it can be great fun by yourself or with a group.

Myself, i play Guitar, to be honest, i dnt consider myself very good, i can play a few Metallica songs without the Solo's and Silverwing by Arch Enemy aswell as Cowboysfrom Hell by Pantera (without the solos too) I can also play Sugar, Suggestions, Know and Toxicity by System of a Down
