As a gamer, of mostly fps games but is it really to much to ask of the game industrie for a decent realistic game where the AI isint mentally handicaped, and your enemies dont take clip after clip of bullets. Its not that i dont understand that games are meant to be fun i to enjoy these games but, probally for the average gamer its an escape from reality not another blackhole into reality. But i dont think its just me where after another bullshit ass day you just wanna sit down and take your anger out in a way that you actually can find satisfying. not this bullshit that halo and all of its "wannabe's" crap idea of a satisfying game. Persronally i dont find getting fustrated at little high pitched kids over xbox live is really why i play video games if anything its why im slowly driffting away from my favorite past time.

- i would love to here what the gamers have to say cuz i know i would love to see a hyper realistic game and so would all of my friends that i have talked to.

you would like a "hyper realistic" fps game?, that horrifying when you think about it.

imagine call of duty with characters being shot in the gut and dropping down and screaming out the tv for hours before they died of blood loss, i could give more grisly examples but gaming should stay at least a certain degree away from reality, or theres no escapism, youd just end up with , well, the torture porn equivalent of game is suppose.

Well good sir, may I introduce you to the wonderful world of Ghost Recon 1 (don't even bother with GWAR 1/2, those were arcade style travesties upon the Ghost Recon name), Operation Flashpoint, ARMA: Armed Assault, and the upcoming Operation Flashpoint 2 (which is is definitely shaping up to be the greatest combat simulator ever made).

I'm definitely finding myself drawn more and more to these slower paced, but infinitely more intense combat simulators. All the 'arcade FPSs' just can't hold my attention anymore because they're feeling more and more like a cheap carnival game.

Im gonna have to say any FPS or otherwise violant game would suck because if it was 'hyper realistic' you would tie instantly.
Thats kinda why you dont just buy a gun and kill whoever you want?

I didint mean hyper realistic as in the blood and guts to such an exstreme it makes you puke your own blood. But i meant more of a very intense feeling where your allways on your toes instead of not really caring if you die, cuz you spawn in 10 seconds

i think that the answer isnt REALISM that would be good, but something like left4dead where the replayability is 200 because it uses algorithims to make certain amounts and types of bad guys come at you depending on how well you are doing health wise or as a team. bottom line NO SCREAMING SOLDIERS, hows that gunna calm my shitty day any ways :p

I think the closest thing you're going to get to realism is a squad based FPS over the net against real people who learn your moves and can counter attack to exploit your weaknesses. One of things about those games that I never like though is the armored vehicles, in real life taking down certain tanks and APCs would require an air strike or artillery barrage and I'd like to see that type of thing in a game against real people.

A realistic game won't be made to your extent because there really is no market for it. We live in reality, why play reality also? If you want a game where the enemies don't take clip after clip, you too will die as easily as them or it is not realistic. Die instantly=not fun.

thing is with fps's is that realism sometimes eats fun. Think about real war with real shooting. Not fun is it? Which is why if an FPS was majorly realistic it wouldnt be fun. You would die so much more easliy (frustration) sitting in cover wouldnt heal you. And UAV (using COD4 as my example here) would go down the drain. Rather than searching for realistic FPS's i try to find ones with the right ratio of fun/realism. I sometimes think destroyable terrain would be fun on games such as cod4 before the part of my brain that actually thinks slaps me and says "people would level the map cover would be useless youd be blown to bits" the thing is with Fps as well is that both sides are made to be fair by the game designer. this DOESNT happen in real life. if it was "realistic" youd have a stick and the enemy would have a tank. Which sometimes (not literally) would happen in real life. This of course wouldnt be fun. I personally think graphics and physics are the things games should excell on in the FPS market as this is an area wher the gameplay isnt ruined if they make it insanly realistic.

I think you really mean fun to realism ratio rather than pure realism

Think about it this way, If you wanted a Realistic FPS, you would need alot of people from the asian mafia with mp5, no Health meter aka 1 hit kills and restricted to guns that can you can only aquire through legialy buying them with money you get from side quest jobs....now answer me this, does that sound fun?

The game has to be fun first and foremost. Imagine an FPS whereby you would die after taking one hit. The frustration level would be too much. Playing the COD games on their highest difficulty setting are bad enough.

The purpose of a game should encourage you to be the hero and to do the things that are impossible in real life.

You guys are lame. Of course realism added to the wrong type of game would suck, I'd hate for Mario to have realistic jumping and one shot kill in Duke Nukem would suck the fun right out of the screen. But realism to the right game could make it so much better.

Obviously, a realistic game could never be set in a war, it's too chaotic, and standard corridor shooters are out since a single guy going up against a hundred strong is not realistic at all. I'm thinking more along the lines of, say, a stealth game, or maybe a game without guns like a beat em up or fighting game, that could be cool.

CS players = kids that need ritalin? I have no idea what servers you guys play on. I still play CS1.6 occassionally on non-AWM servers, the most annoying players I know of are the completely daft ones. The tirades I come across on youtube have never crossed my ears during online play. Maybe its because I play on EU servers? Maybe because I don't bother with CSS?

TogSolid:
Exactly, those games exist already, try some of those. You missed old Rainbow Six: Ravenshield (a.k.a. let's all limp to the finish line). RS Vegas will do in a pinch.

Somedude98:
Sitting in cover not healing you is not detrimental to a game. It's a design choice. I despise the blatant copying of Halo's health system, it's equal parts inspired and lazy. Though I applaud Resistance's implementation of it (segmented regeneration).

wait for Massive Action Game from what I can tell you'll merely be a cog in a massive war machine like a real war.

You can't do anything about the people spoiling the realism and it's unfair to ask the developers to. if you want it to be really immersive which I think is the word you were looking for is very difficult for multiplayer gaming so maybe just play the campaign in an online coop style with some of your mates who wouldn't ruin it?

the realism has little to do with the intensity and immersion of the game

you could also try making your own matches most games have a respawn time which can be adapted from ten sects to a minute to even no respawn in some games.

Well...uh...you're lame! Yea...lame-o pants. Right.

It strikes me that most people who actually perform jobs that involve the risk of life and limb are...y'know...trained. Their qualifications are something like "200,000$ of the tax-payers money, three years of training, and a gigantic military machine around me," rather than the more common "I baught an xbox lolz." It also strikes me that most military action is 95% waiting and 5% piss your pants in fear. Again, not much fun gameplay there. Lastly, it strikes me with a brick.

What I want is a (fun) game where you aren't the hero. Mostly because of the sence of entitlement it gives fools. Especially with pokemon. If pokemon were real, most people wouldn't even be trainers, let alone pokemon league material. Pokemon training would just be a well-known but little practiced sport of moral question.
