To clarify, I'm talking about traditional zombies.
You mean the voodoo zombies that have been "raised from the dead" and put to work as slaves?

Realistic zombies? Explain to me how that's supposed to work. Realism would be impossible, since they don't even exist in the real world.

When I first saw this thread, it reminded me of the time I tried to show some of my friends Left 4 Dead 2. At first, they were complaining about the 'terrible graphics' during that part of Dead Center where you're in a room filled with smoke. Then I realized that my friend never found his way out of that room, so the rest of our team had to haul ass back to him. It was at that point that they started complaining about how unrealistic the game is. Apparently realism is never getting lost, no smoke where there's fire, running to get anywhere during a zombie apocalypse, no friendly fire, and other bullshit like that. I then pointed out that we were playing a game with zombies in it, and they didn't even stop to think about that. Instead, they kept on complaining.

And then my friend got Smokered and ragequit. Since we were playing split-screen, I got disconnected too. Seriously.

Havn't played L4D2 either. The first one was fucking awesome.

Silent Hill was pretty good. Silent Hill 2 and 3 kick ass. Silent hill 4 was okay. Origins and Homecoming were just plain meh.

Now Dead Rising...

Realism + Zombies= Does Not Compute.

The very existence of trying to depict with a serious face a 'realistic' Zombie video game is like throwing chaff into the wind. The winds of irony. Zombies themselves defy the fields of science. Oh they'll make games that 'looks' realistic, but it won't be; if so that would be very boring. If they were to make a game about realistic zombies it would be people running around shocked in disbelief at the fact that zombies ACTUALLY exist. I wouldn't play that and I'm certain many of my fellow Escapist's wouldn't want to either. I don't want realism in my games, that would be God-awful. The looks are realistic, but gameplay and story is anything but realistic. Nice thought though.

In Saints Row 2 there was a mini game with zombies that died with one headshot. you could take a lot more than one bite though...

dead rising had the right idea, like having a story with zombies just in the way of you progress rather than just being the focus

it COULD work, but zombies couldn't comprise the whole fucking game if they'd kill you in one hit

But if i was stranded in the middle of a barricaded house with hundred of slow groaning zombies approaching hungry for my flesh....That would scare me shitless.
I find the dragged out existence of myself knowing my impending PAINFUL doom more scary than anything else.
This is pretty much what I felt the entire time I was reading World War Z.

OT: The game sounds a lot like Nazi Zombies (being barracaded inside) except only headshots work on the zombies.

Well 'last stand', had only one bite death. It's better to shoot the zombies in the head since it done the most damage but you can still kill them normal ways

"Realistic Zombie Game"
Surely an oxymoron?

Let's think about this: Only headshots can kill means that the game might be difficult to pick up. Scavenging for supplies would be difficult to keep fresh. One bite is fatal leaves absolutely no margin for error.
I agree with the concept, but I don't think as a mainstream video game it would work.

I guess I can clarify this, mostly what I'm referring to is that a zombie game that aimed to be truly realistic would suck because it would be realistic in the sense that there wouldn't be any weapons beyond household objects, you wouldn't be very good with them, and there is no such thing as health kits.

Well, we really don't know what a realistic zombie is. We know about traditional zombies (slow moving, immune to body shots), but I don't think that would be the case in the real world. I mean, if you blow out a zombie's spinal column, there's no way in hell it'll be able to keep going.
actually it will. The zombie has no pain sensors and will continue however hopelessly towards it's goal. Even it's legless/armless bloody mangled torso will wiggle it's way at you.
