Realistically Clean Up the Streets in Garbage Truck Simulator

I'd like to see this combined with a mechanic where you can fish items out of dumpsters, fix them up, and use or sell them... sort of a "dumpster diving sim."

I have a Train Simulator. It's called Railway Tycoon. I have installed it once. I have tried it once.

I have regretted the purchase and have erased all experiences of the game. All 5 minutes of it.

My local game emporium stocks a wide array of these kinds of games, all made by the same company:
Forklift Simulator.
Truck Simulator.
Surgery Simulator. (no, really).
Tow Truck Simulator.
Crane Simulator.
And so on.

They all look like shit.
I think they're going for the "oblivious grandmother buying christmas presents"-crowd.

truck simulator is actually tanker truck simulator, or UK or German truck simulator made by SCS software, a company with an actual budget, and not made by drunken retarded bull-nards.

farming simulator 2011 is actually a decent game. maybe astragon should can all the other games and develop a new physics engine & game engine, and make farming simulator or something.

There are a lots of such simulators coming out in Germany, from public transportation to agriculture. And they are REALLY popular.

I haven't played either, but I think it's great they exist. We modern people usually work at computers and don't even get out much, much less work in such 'traditional' jobs. Why not try it out?

I believe riding a virtual bus full of people can still be less mundane then most MMORPGs.

I know that German devs keep making them, but do they actually sell? I personally don't know anyone who ever brought such a game (flight sims excluded). If they really are popular.. WHO BUYS THESE THINGS? I mean.. damn. Fatherland, you disappoint me. ^^

Some time ago when the latest agri simulator came out (something with 2010 in the title I think), it was among the most popular games in many stores for MONTHS.

As for who buys them? My guess is most are bought by parents who want a game for their kids. Next it may just be people who work in jobs they hate and do their escapism thing in this way. I for myself would love to try out farming, so why not virtually.

After all, hunting simulators are incredibly popular in some parts of US too.

You know, other people wouldn't understand why we buy and play murder simulators...

That's fair.

What always puzzles me though is just how *bad* many of these games are, from a more objective point of view. The graphics are bad (the memorable bus simulator 2009 had a HD mode which easily broke 2 graphics cards), the controls are bad...
Exceptions are probably the Train Sims.
