I wish that the realistic difficulty in games would actually be realistic. Being killed in one shot is realistic, but the enemies should be like that too, not able to soak up an entire clip before dying. That's not realistic.

heres something i noticed about so called "realistic" games. you know how people always complain that they are too brown and have too much bloom? well when you think about it that proves that they are pretty unrealistic. seriously, if reality was like that then we wouldnt notice that these games were like this. i cant be bothered to type any more now. post your thoughts.

now that i think about it, why would they want to make games so realistic? wheres the game where you hit them with a grenade and they go flying into space? i want to play THAT game.
Ah you have come the full circle for those people that argue for realistic games. You see first they say that even though [insert character's name here] is really cool a "normal person" could never do that. But eventually when a game with a "normal" hero comes out they find that it sucks. They find that they miss the bullet time, jumping higher then they should, and not dieing in a few shots.

The whole reason we play most of the games we do is because we like being able to do things that we otherwise could never do in real life. It's like if you went to a really pricey hotel and they had a big breakfast buffet. Would you just eat some cereal and fruit like you always do back home or would you go for one of those custom made waffles stacks?

This is true. Games are a form of escapism. A few years back I went through a massive depression, and used games as a way to forget my problems and, in a manner of speaking, be someone else for a few hours a day. Unfortunately, it led to gaming becoming an addiction for me, but the point sort of stands.

And just to note, I got counselling for the depression, got over the addiction and now play for fun rather than wallowing in grief.
