So, I was listening to Have you seen your mother baby, standing in the shadow?, a Rolling Stones song, and realized that it sounds like a mariachi band covering Yakkety Sax.

While I still enjoy the song, it's just sort of weird.

What about you guys?
Any sudden epiphanies that ruined a movie/ game/ song/ experience?

I couldn't enjoy Red Dead Redemption as much when I realized how scripted and linear the story is.

I can no longer play Oblivion since I realised that without efficient levelling, I was actually becoming steadily weaker...

I only wish I could have stayed ignorant for another 100 hours or so...

Agreed, but even still, it's a damn fine story.

It was a sad day when I realised I over committed my smiles when talking to people..... I don't smile at people any more.

Fallout 3 after watching Shamus Young's Spoiler Warning LP of it. I can't play it anymore after being told everything wrong with it and realising that everything said was totally true.

When I realised you can hold objects in front of the monster in Amnesia so he can't see you.

The game was silly before and it became even more silly when I could literally walk up to him holding a rock in front of his face.

.
Is it a guide that doesn't turn the game into a horrible, horrible grindfest, in which you spend every moment wondering why you are subjecting yourself to it instead of just playing the game?

That's what all the other guides turned out to be...

The best stories are scripted and linear.

Realising the song Lover's Spit by Broken Social Scene is about oral sex.

Yes. Yes it does... I do understand your frustration, performing the acts as ascribed in my own guide was very tedious and felt like cheating. After it was over my character was a God, but yeah considering the game isn't supposed to be played like that I feel the Dev's messed up somewhere. My friend has the same problem as you bc he actually plays the game.

Realizing that the store I used to work at, which shall remain nameless (though it did star in an episode of South Park) was a dead-end job with almost zero chance of advancement pretty much killed my incentive to work as hard as humanly possible, and led to me transferring to a partner store in the company.

That's not always true, and Red Dead Redemption doesn't have a particularly good story anyway. It's badly paced, repetitive and inconsistent (though the dialogue is great.) I don't have a problem with linearity, but if you're going to make a sand-box game then structure your story to take advantage of that. Instead, Red Dead takes the Call of Duty approach of pairing you with one or more team mates and having them lead you by the nose through highly scripted shooting galleries.
