Alright, I was going to sit down and play Ocarina of time, right?
Hopefully beat the game. Problem is, my tv refuses to work with the N64!
The tv will work with the system, but even after some fiddling, all I get is a black screen.
Any Ideas that might help?
>Cable is securely plugged in
>Blew dust out of cartridge and system
>Tried a full system reboot

Edit: Tried a Rogue Squadron cartridge, still didn't work.

you can get an older TV...
they can't be worth THAT much.

or you can make it complicated by buying a wii and then buying ocarina of time through the wii shop channel

If I was going to play it I would use an emulator or play the Master Quest disc that I got with Wind Waker on my GCN or Wii.

Might just do that. How much is it? I'd need a classic controller to go with it...

I'd use an emulator, but the controller I have for the PC wouldn't work that well.

$10, but you can also use a Gamecube controller, if you have one lying around. Might I suggest holding the TV at gun point when trying?

$10 for the game that is.

Hmm... the gamecube controller isn't exactly fit for Ocarina, as I'd have to use the C stick to shoot arrows.

You can use X,Y and Z as a substitue for Left, Right and Down C.

Oh, they changed it up on the wii version? I got Starfox 64 and it didn't change...
Do they have Majota's too?

Yeha they changed it up. Using X,Y and Z instead of the C-stick becomes quite natural, but I find myself skipping between the two without really noticing, but this is off the GC discs (master quest and collectors edition) I imagine it's the same for the VC port. Also, the VC port of SF64 (or Lylat Wars where I'm from) lets you use the X and Y buttons on the GC pad for boost and brake. The GC controller mapping changes for each N64 game I think, to provide the most useful functions as opposed to re-using the layout on the classic controller.

:Edit: OP Have you got an expansion pak in? Is it fitted securely? Have you checked for breaks in the AV cable? Try using a GameCube AV (3-pin)cable, fits straight in without that silly little RF adapter. Any sound coming through?

How old is your TV? I remember needing to buy some sort of adaptor to get it to work on some televisions.

I'd just play the gamecube versions, on the Wii, if that's an option.

Hmm...might have to do myself a 3D Zelda marathon soon...

1. Make sure the component wires are in the right slots if your tv doesn't color them. I'm not sure the order but experiment with different combination of Red-white-yellow.
2. make sure your n64's wires work by checking the power (Easy enough) and putting the yellow (or white) jack into each hole until you either see a picture or hear sounds.

The nintendo gamecube uses the same power cord as an N64 so that's something cool you can try.
