It dawned on me recently that almost all my favourite, much played games are one of two things: a.) really, really old, or b.) remakes of really, really old games.

My top 10 list of The Best Games Of All Time includes Phantasy Star 4, Phantasy Star Online, Both the Star Ocean PSP releases which I loved beforehand anyways, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Baldur's Gate 2, Final Fantasy 7 (the game that introduced me to gaming), and Morrowind.

So yeah. Which old games (or remakes of old games) do you still love to death?

Bioforge, Stonekeep, Baldur's Gate series, Planescape: Torment and Arcanum. My latest addition is the indie game Eschalon: Book I which is based on the classic RPGs of the days of yore such as Ultima.

woem - You're an Arcanum fan too? *squeal* I meet so few people who have actually played that under-appreciated gem that sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who ever played it.

Deus Ex (I play it through at least once a year.)
All the old Mechwarrior games, before Mech 4.
Civilization 2
Jagged Alliance 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3

That is about it. I do play more but I cannot remember them at this moment.

Off my top 30 games list, half of them were made before the last generation. Which is really saying something because I got into gaming during the last generation and only like 3 from that gen are there, unless you count handhelds.

The list is here. [http://screwattack.com/node/26407]

*jumps for joy* Arcanum fans unite!

Having said which, I firmly believe that Phantasy Star 4 is the BEST game of all friggin' time, no holds barred, which is demented considering that I didn't even discover video games for another four years and a couple of consoles after its release.

I'm going to have to go way back here and state that Mighty Final Fight, Galaga, and the original SMB are all exquisite.
