Why do people care so much about this Friday song again?

At least she's doing a nice thing and donating.

That song made money?
Well the US army did contract her to make an album for special use at Guantanamo Bay.
Can we all at least agree that this song can be justified as real torture?

(And I believe Guantanamo is a Naval base... could be wrong though, XP)
It's not a prison for Pow's anymore? But who's going to torture the terrorists? [sub][small]Just a tiny bit of sarcasm there[/small][/sub]

I went from having absolutely no respect, to a lot of respect for this girl in under 5 minutes, bravo. You see loads of celebrities saying "My prayers/thoughts are with them" but its rare you see something like this.

I'm surprised she's made anything outside of ridicule for herself off of that song.

Well anyway, good on her. Still don't like her song though.

My opinion of her as an artist (in the absolute broadest sense of the word) hasn't changed one bit, and no amount of donations will change that.

Still, she's donating money to charity, so as a person she's earned an iota more respect from me. Though there's a chance it wasn't actually her idea, but that her management came up with it as a publicity stunt and they convinced her to do it.

Anyway, the reason why she donated is unimportant, just that she does donate.

I never really hated her. I blame the record company. They were the ones that wrote the song, produced it and auto-tuned the crap out of it. I'm impressed she's donating her share of the money though.

I like her a lot more than Bieber.

1. she at least ADMITS that the song isn't "perfect" (I wouldn't expect her to call it a piece of shit, but she atleast doesn't think she's a frigging GOD).
2. she's allowed to sound like a prepubescent girl because... well, she IS one... Bieber has NO excuse
3. she's donating, Bieber's "praying". I'm not bashing religion (I'm fairly religious myself), but it's obvious what he's doing. praying=good publicity for $0.00.

it's good that there's tween icons out there who can at least see what's truly important in life; not record sales, not awards, not money, but being a good person

I know man, just being sarcastic. (Though I did hear a rumor that would play barney music 24/7 to get people to talk)

Well, that's nice of her. The money that song generated has no right to exist so this is good I guess.

It's a good gesture and there's nothing wrong with her as a person.

Her song however can burn in the deepest pit of music hell as well as her "career".

The song is crap, and i hate it, but i never hated her, but now i'm pretty positive towards the whole thing and Rebecca herself. Feelings towards the song, however, remain unchanged. However tomorrow will at least be a slightly better friday in japan.

I can't understand how this girl has become any kind of "star". She can't sing, no amount of synthesizing has made her even decent. In her video she seems very awkward in front of the camera. And to top it all off, she's not even that pretty. What does this girl have that's gotten her a record deal? Sure the song is pretty good and has a great tune, but this girl wouldn't even pass the initial auditions for american idol.

Nope I still think her whole style and song and if she continues down that road given who she said her "influences" were I can see that as a distinct possibility is still a huge steaming pile. Although it is still a nice thing to do. I don't see how this would affect my opinion of her music. Although just because people hate her music does not mean they hate her. I hate her an Bieber's music does not mean I hate them personally. I have never met them so I can't say that.

Are people not paying attention to the fact that her video has about 9 times more dislikes than it does likes?

68,000 likes/580,000 dislikes clearly =/= good music.

BOB DYLAN made a better version of this song than her studio ever could. Using the same exact words. The same exact crappy lyrics.

Us: Who are some of you idols?

RB: Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez. Those are my biggest musical influences, and I love what they have done with their careers.

There you have it, the secret to her "succes".

Good for her about the donation stuff, although I wouldn't be surprised if she had no idea what happened in Japan and it's something her manager (if she has one of those) had set up.

H.P. Lovecraft was an anti-semitic racist. But he wrote good horror.
Lewis Carroll had questionable relationships with at least one little girl. But he wrote some terrific absurd fiction and verse.
Rebecca Black is donating money to good causes. I applaud that. But "Friday" is still an atrociously awful song.
