I've only seen one good reboot, and that was the Nolan Batman films. Game reboots never do well because the developer changes enough for it to be seen as shitting on a classic. And did Spyro really need a reboot?

Spyro was one of the best games I ever played, especially 2 and 3 on the PS1, the first PS2 Spyro (I think it was Enter the Dragonfly) was meh, and the ones after that completely failed for me. Unless someone could make a new Spyro game in similar fashion to the PS1 ones then Im not even going to bother with this one.

ANOTHER Spyro reboot?! Why won't you just let him fucking DIE?!

I loved Insomniac's Spyro games (and still do), but seeing one of my favorite childhood characters molested in that way in countless awful games makes my stomach turn.

I'm gonna go play Spyro 2 before I feel the need to cut myself.

Examples of good reboots? I don't know actually. I'm sure they're out there.
I'd say Serious Sam HD, but not really sure

I mean, they're remakes, but they are extensive, and add a lot of stuff

An example of bad reboot, DMC...now DMC: Origins or somesuch. Dante smokes, has black hair and is trapped somewhere. As if the other DMC didn't even matter.

I doubt any reboot is a good one.
This is a bit unfair. It isn't out yet. There could be a perfectly good reason for the new look, and he may even be back to normal by the end of the game. I'm not putting money on it, but still. If it can hold it's weight story-wise and keep Dante in his heyday of humor (DMC3 (and from what I've heard, DMC4) level), then it'll be a pretty good reboot in my opinion. Given the other games, I'm taking good gameplay as a given, because there's no hope if the screw that up.
He will have white hair again, this I know. But it's from a different writer (the other one stepped out). It somewhat ignores all the other DMC and Dante just isn't Dante. I would honestly not complained about any story as long as he would have stayed himself but he just looked and acted odd. Gameplay is not the issue as much as ruining a character that I really liked. I will await to see what it's like but I'm not really confident about it.
I saw the concept art...

...and I think he looks pretty cool. Although I have never played a Devil May Cry game so I have no idea if this change contradicts his character or something. (But it probably does, since so many people mentioned it)
Well since you didn't play the first Devil May Cry I could understand it would be a cool looking character but if you play the other games you will know that is the WORST character design for Dante
While I'm waiting for story details on this new game, i will safely say that this redesign for dante is nothing short of horrible....I mean cmon, does he look in ANY way similiar to how he used to look, even in his young appearance? (DMC 3). Dante doesn't have red eyes, he doesn't have black hair, he doesn't smoke, and...his face just Doesn't look the same. I'm sorry, but i fail to see how this is dante. Even in the trailer he wasn't acting right: Dante is normally cocky and confident, but in the trailer he seemed more borderline psychotic. On the subject of gameplay i have this to say: If he gets Devil Trigger in this game without some damned good reason, i will be pissed.

Reboot or not, they have, from what i can tell, absolutely gutted and destroyed everything that made Dante a cool character.
I've seen the trailer now too.
It reminds me of the Saw movies.

I also noted that it's being developed by Ninja Theory, aren't those the ones that made Metroid: Other M? Have they done anything note worthy except universally panned reboots? :p

Whoever started this crazy reboot needs to look at the first 2 Spyro games, badly.

I mean, there are developers out there know why Spyro was so popular back in his older days, are there?

I think you've got Ninja Theory confused with Team Ninja. Team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden) made Other M, and Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword, Enslaved) is making DMC.

In my ever-humble opinion it looks kind of.. meh. They should've just used a different name for their series. Yes, you'll obviously get more sales with an established franchise, but fans hated the redesign. And so do I.

When you look at that picture, what do you think he's charged with? That's right, prostitution. Franchise prostitution.

[sub]And yikes, it's like Spyro's deformed crack-baby =o[/sub]

To be fair, the story was done by the creator of the Metroid Series. He essentially rendered the Prime series non-canonical to tell that story that was supposed to be his crowning achievement. That is scary. Just making sure the blame goes to the right person(s).

So in addition to buying the new Spyro game I'll need to buy shitty McDonald's Kids Meals toys to play it? Ha...so very lame and NOT happening.
Also, Spyro looks stupid and the last DS game was good.

As to DMC?

What. The. Fuck.

I mean, I hear a lot of people say the this or that reboot destroyed their childhood(Transformers being a good example) but I never really understood that until right now. Who the FUCK thought that looked good?

Jesus Christ, Spyro, what did they DO to you?

Uh...What? Oh, right. Good reboots......

I don't know. Batman.

Taking my first PSX game putting it on the Wii with shitty graphics and a fucked up redesign of Spyro?

Can't say I'm surprised I guess as I get older more and more things I once found great will be bastardized.

*Sniff.

You just had to dig out the CORPSE didn't you KoticK! The Guitar hero valve on your money pool has dried, so you reanimate a series that has long been dead to even it's most loyal fans :(

I am starting to see why so many people hate you Bobby.

Huh, well maybe the gameplay won't be that bad, I think we all are over reacting from some bad ar-

OT: Good reboots... I thought Casino Royal was the best bound film in decades.

Any love for the new Goldeneye game was murdered with that Spyro trailer.

Wow, Spyro looks just terrible.
Spyro the Dragon was the first game I ever owned on PS1 and I loved it, this is making me sadface.
You and me both. That being said, I think it's an interesting idea though.

Uh lets see good reboots...good reboots...hmmm.
A...nah.
Bi...no.
