Hey everyone. Could do with some help choosing a pc game for my girlfriend. She's really in to Sims 3 and has pretty much played it to death.

She was watching me play Rift the other day and really liked the look of it. But she struggled to get to grips with all the gameplay mechanics and I think it's just a bit much for her at the moment.

Can anyone recommend anything she might like that's a step towards more involved gameplay than sims 3 or Rollercoaster tycoon!

I was thinking possibly Tropico 4 but I haven't played it myself. What do you think?

I would be willing to bet she could figure Portal out pretty quickly, the gameplay really isn't too difficult to get your head around, I've never played Tropico 4 but it seems like a game with a lot of stuff going on.

does she only play PC? cause I know my sister was the same way before her boyfriend bought her a DS and now she is into zelda, lego harry potter, professor layton etc.

I'd say if you're really stumped on what to get her try to get her a puzzle game since a lot of them are pretty simple to control but engaging as a video game should be.

Maybe Peggle? unless you don't want her to go down the dark road that is casual gaming.

my girlfriend really liked sims 3, she also liked civilization revolution?

also she like halo3:ODST but only if we are playing firefight together and she gets to use a turret lol

CivRev is an enjoyable game, involves controlling people, controls are easy and your not under preassure of time to do things? thats what i recomend

EDIT: saw it was pc not xbox(mines got it for xbox) civ4 instead for pc, 5 can be a bit overwhelming

Plants vs. Zombies seems to be popular with the ladies.
She does actually like plants vs zombies a lot. Last time we drove back from her dads house (4 hours) she played it on the laptop without saying a word. It was bliss... until the battery died!

Portal is a good shout. Can anyone think of a game with any RPG elements that isn't too complicated. Actually, thinking about it Torchlight could work.

Honestly? A MMO is your best bet at Gateway Drugging your girlfriend into gaming. Sims is the other one, and you've already covered that base. If she's a bit of a geek she might enjoy the Bioware RPGs as well. But MMOs have a heavy female player base for a reason.

Among the MMOs...Rift isn't a bad choice, but WoW is still by far the most accessible and new-user friendly.

You could try something unconventional like Minecraft. If you get 2 copies you guys can build stuff together.

If Rift is too complex you could try some more lightweight RPGs that would be easier to learn off of. Dragon Nest is a good choice for that. Quirky art-style and fairly easy to grasp combat and questing. Beyond that it'll teach basics like crafting and such.

This. I introduced my girlfriend to Minecraft and now she's joined me and my friends on the server that I host. She's probably even more savvy than me at most of the mechanics, too!

Portal's been said, so there's that. Also World of good is a fantastically addictive game, and not too technically difficult. As far as RPG goes, Fallout 3's mechanics are definitely on the light side; V.A.T.S makes the game pretty forgiving, so it's good for a newbie.

I am a female gamer and I like Sims 3. Perhaps she would like Bastion or maybe a Bioware game like Mass Effect or Dragon Age. Portal is fun if she likes puzzles.

Those are some of my favourite games.
