Reccomend a PC game for my girlfriend

GBAs should be pretty cheap, nowadays, though I wouldn't suggest starting her out on the originals- they haven't aged as well as the Silph Scope of nostalgia says they have.

Yeah, Plants vs. Zombies. My girlfriend has also loved both KotOR's, Dragon Age, and was even able to play the Mass Effect series. Trying to get her into Fallout on PC, but I don't think she's into it as much as the others.

IDK why, but I'd certainly go with the Bastion! Maybe some platforming would do her good in her first steps (it still has a bunch of RPG stuff too!)
Trine would be fun too if you could coop, and amazingly, my GF just got to LOVE playing GTA, you may give it a try....

My Girlfriend likes portal 2 and playing as the pyro on TF2. I've taken steps to preventing her becoming a valve fangirl, don't worry I got it covered.

Hmm... Before I really started pc gaming I used to be enjoy old-school point-and-click adventure games (King's Quest, etc). After that I just started borrowing games from my boyfriend (I was hooked on the Baldur's Gate series for a while)... I don't know, it's hard to know what kind of games to recommend without knowing a person. Probably best to trial-and-error until she finds out what kind of games she likes best.

Have a look at Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, a sequel to an older style adventure game but with much more lenient gameplay, and has a great story and female-centric characters. Only problem is it's a bit short at about 10 hours of gameplay.

Also chicks always love a Zelda game, but it doens't sound like you have a Wii.

Lol, while I approve of the suggestion because DF > Minecraft IMO it is a really hard game to get into due to the overly clumsy interface and Ascii graphics.


Might be worth trying an adventure game of some sort. Plenty to choose from ranging from simple point and click to first person stuff. Longest Journey was an instant hook for my wife. You then couldn't get her off the PC and she just devoured adventure games. Then she started playing Final Fantasy 10 then 7 and I could no longer game on the consoles :/

EDIT:OOps no not Longest Journey, the hook was Day Of The Tentacle, she used to play that once a year as she loved it so much.

I'd suggest an adventure game like monkey island 1-5, full throttle, grim fandango and the like.

Maybe try Black And White, or some other god game. I know it's old but the controls are intuitive, the gameplay is fun and it goes at whatever pace you want it to. Although, if I'm honest Black And White 2 was better as it introduced a lot more involved elements, but start her out on B&W 1 first and go from there. The good thing about it being old is it won't be hard to run and it'll be cheap as hell by now.

My 3 favourite childhood games.

But anyways... sim(ulation) games are probably the easiest to get a grasp of pc-wise even though they are (imo) a dying genre nowdays.

But you can always look at popcap. My personal favourite of their games is peggle.

I've been wondering the same thing with my girlfriend. Since her brother took her PC, she can't play Sims 3 anymore until they do something with some other computer in the house. We've been playing Pokemon Ruby on an emulator and finishing the game together (we got through Crystal before that). We've also go on Runescape every couple of months to troll...

I'm not sure what else we could play together besides Yahoo! pool and chess.

I know she likes racing games, but not much else. I told her that I'd buy a Wii if she did at some point. Being far away, online games and things like that are all we can play together.

Try looking up simulation games or games with simple controls.
