I'm looking to buy a good PC game, I like games like fallout or oblivion. Games that have a good modding community. I already own both of those so don't recommend me those but what game do you think I should buy.

You don't like games like Fallout or Oblivion. You like Morrowind.
I'd also recomend Team Fortress 2, Sins of a Solar Empire, and Neverwinter Nights.

Off Topic: Why the hell doesn't recommend have two 'c's in it? It seems like it should.

Morrowind!
Kidding. In all seriousness, it really depends on how recent you want the game to be. NWN, the first (at least) is a good game with a good community. The Witcher doesn't have as vibrant a community, but it is a very good RPG with an interesting setting.

Mass Effect is good too, but the 1st one is more of an RPG than the second. Again, not modded, but a somewhat open RPG with character development.

You could also look into the Gothic series, or Risen.

I'm not sure what is higher priority to you, modding community or gameplay/game type. It'd help a lot if you specified this better.

Oh, umm a sort of a tactical (if you're a mage) Bioware RPG.

I also vote Morrowind, much better the Oblivion, IMO.
I tried morrowind a few years ago and just couldn't get into it. I'm looking into the witcher and NWN

I recommend Left 4 Dead. There is a thriving modding community out there for that game. I love it when they change the sound effects of the zombies to happy noises.

Ah, ok. You are missing out though. The combat is a bit rubbish but the seeting and story are sooooooo much better. In Oblivion I felt like I was playing a game, In Morrowind I really got lost in it.

Nothing after 2005. After that, PC gaming really started getting screwed.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines was good.

TES3: Morrowind...there's LOADS of mods and it's still a decent game.

FPS with some stealth and lots of Humor:

No One Lives Forever 1 & 2 !

RPG's: The Witcher as others pointed, TES3 Morrowind indeed, Baldur's Gate 2, starwars Knights of The Old Republic has lots of mods,

or just go to moddb.com and search for PC RPG games...

...or change the skins of the zombies to the Telly Tubbies... but the worst I've seen, changing the sounds of the Special Infected to Bill frickin' Cosby.

KOO KOO KA CHOO!! *boomer explodes*

OP: Yeah, I say Orange Box too. And dare I say it, if you have the rig that can run it, go Crysis. Ignore what people have said, the gameplay is utterly gripping stuff. Such choice, and it'd be in my Top 10 games of all time if it had better scaling.
