Reccomend me a T.V series!

Don't listen to the poster below, if you do you will most likely be lost about certain parts. Major stuff from the first season of the new series (Eccleston's Doctor) resonates all the way into the 4th season. The thing is though, Doctor Who is a show that isn't for a casual television show watcher. To deeply get the show and understand everything that happens in it, you need to watch all the new series, first season onward(2005- ), and watch as much of the old series (1963-1989, movie in 1996) as you can.
Personally, in general, I would never recommend not watching a season of a show if you are getting into it. If someone recommends a show to me, I watch it, beginning to end. Twice I've taken skip a certain season or episodes of show advice, and both times I've ended up confused or lost about something that happened, and when I watched said told skipped episodes, my questions were answered.

I'm curious, have you watched Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis?
And, why do you like Stargate Universe?
The reason I ask is if you had watched Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, you would have recommended Stargate SG-1, then Atlantis.
Also, all the Stargate fans I know and have talked to, despise Stargate Universe.
The only reason I continued watching it is because I wanted to see how long it took for the show to actually get to something remotely interesting or relatively related to anything Stargate.
Answer: It has taken one and a half season, and the related bit is only a half-hearted attempt.
It shouldn't be called Stargate Universe, it should be called Stargate Galactica: The Soap Opera. Because the horrible filming style from Battlestar is being used. On top of that are so many romantic relationships that are crisscrossed and messed up, it is as bad as a soap opera.
It is so bad that the things that the show is actually about, the stargate, the ship, and who created the universe, are delegated to an after thought or a less focused side story.
If they don't get their act together with this last half of season two, I will be hoping and praying that the show gets canceled. Because if they can't properly make a third show that holds the awesome title of Stargate, then it deserves to be canceled, and let Stargate live on with the epicness that came before this crap.
Rant over. I need to make a review thread for Stargate Universe, so I can go more into depth about how bad it is.
