Receiving text messages shuts off PS3

Here's the situation

My brother set his phone on top of my PS3 while we were watching a movie. When he received a text message, the PS3 shut off. We turned it back on, set his phone on it again, I sent him a text, and it turned off again.

I looked around on Google a bit and and couldn't find anything about this. It seem didn't hurt anything and all my saves are still intact. Just a weird thing I thought I'd share with you.

Mine didn't do it. You obviously have a defective PS3 (or I have Gullible written on my ceiling)

What kind of phone did you use? My brothers is an iPhone4.

Hmm, I'll try it with a diffident phone and see what happens.

Ok, I tried it with my Nokia 3600 and it turned the PS3 off, but with a different iPhone 4, it stayed on.

I put the Nokia in roughly the same place as the first iPhone(red), both with the screen down. The second iPhone was in the green area with the screen up.
