Ok this needs to be cleared up; hes not a reviewer...
[HEADING=1] HE'S A GAME CRITIC [/HEADING]
There is a difference.
This person speaks the truth, a game critic points out the glaring flaws in a game, and apparently the glaring flaw in monster hunter is the amount of grind you have to go through in the beginning of the game, before getting to juicy bits of killing giant monsters.

In my own personal opinion I wouldn't have enjoyed this game, because I believe a game should start out good, not get better after hours of slogging through shit.

Didn't Yahtzee himself once say if you watch his "reviews" for an actual opinion on whether or not to buy a game you'd best show yourself out the door and form your own opinion. (paraphrasing I know but the point stands)

Yahtzee is as valid a game reviewer as any imo. There are no game reviewers you can actually definitely agree or disagree with. Yahtzee is the same, you listen to what he is saying, and taking into account the context of what he is saying, evaluate whether what he has said has particular relevance to you.

Every single review I have ever read, heard or watched has required this, yahtzee is no different, and in many cases has more useful information than a professional review.

People seem to get off on saying yahtzee is only a comedian, no shit sherlock, however comedians have a knack for highlighting areas that a regular look would ignore, or miss.

He is a comedian, and he reviews at the same time, if you cant distinguish between his jokes and his valid points the problem is simply with you.

You guys should follow him on twitter. You'd have a far better idea of exactly how much shit he has to do every week... Let me give you a hint, it's more just playing a game and then making a video. Everyone who's having a whinge probably won't like his RDR "review", his save bugged out about 15 hours in, rendering it unplayable. He was quite happy about this because it meant he could play the 2-3 other games he had to play that week. I enjoy Yahtzee because he's an incredibly funny bastard, there is no way his "reviews" could influence me one way or the other about which games I play.

ya know, I would think he should spend no less than 7 hours on each game. Seems like that would be more realistic, seeing as most games these days are at leas 12 hrs long. So that would be enough time to get to about the climax of the story... i think.

But then again, its not like were paying for this stuff (at least I'm not, if your are then sucks to be you), so I don't really care if he spends 5 min playing it.

I'm probably not gonna buy the game either way depending on his review. I have a fixed income and frankly I know weather or not I'm gonna buy a game months in advance.

I think you have misunderstood Sprite. They're saying that if it takes 5 hours for the game to "really get good" then it has failed to capture his/her interest and is therefore a crappy game. You seem to be thinking that they only want really short games. Fallout 3 manages to present an interesting story and all that within the first hour (if you dink around in the vault or with the character creation stuff).
No, if you don't include the Vault part, I found Fallout 3 to be extremely boring until the 5 hour mark. Walking around in identical subways for hours with a pistol that can hardly kill a molerat is not my idea of having fun. I thought it only got good when I found my first sawed off shotgun and could actually kill Super Mutants. Maybe I'm just slow at the game, but it took me a while for anything interesting to happen.

I think people take Yahtzee far too seriously. He's here because he provides comedy, not because you should take all his reviews seriously and follow his every recommendation. If it's your favorite game or a game you really like, great! Don't pay attention to him and keep on enjoying your game. It's not like his opinion magically overshadows your own...
To summarise it.. what he said

I watch yahtzee mostly for the comedy and also a rough idea of what a game is like NOT as an accurrate review of a game without bias.
