I started playing Crysis 2 today and already from some trailer I had noticed that one of the voices from the enemies (I think they are 3-4 different voice actors) was the same as the voice of Bad Company's 2 Sergeant Samuel Redford (the black guy)
This guy:

At the start there wasnt any problem but after a while it breaks the immersion completely. They used the voice of an important character of another game and every time I hear it it reminds me of said game.

I am also almost sure that one of the other voices is the announcer from Timesplitter: Future Perfect.

Its the same problem that I have with the actor Keith David, that guy has a very unique voice so its easily recognisable. I started noticing him in the first Saints Row as Julious (your boss), then Mass Effect as Captain David Anderson (your boss), then Modern Warfare 2 as Sergeant Foley (your boss again). The only time that I didnt noticed it was him was in Halo as the Arbiter since he is voicing an alien with a deep voice.

For the sake of discussion, has any of you ever noticed a recognisable voice and ended up linking that voice to the original character?

I also have the Kieth David problem, but here's one for you, Dr. Chakwas (Mass Effect) is voiced by the same person who did the Locust Queen (Gears of War) Carolyn Semour i believe.

While it's not particularly in video games, I can pick Patrick Warburton's voice anywhere, and seem to hear it a lot.

I watched dubbed anime....so yes. Most of the anime I watch is on the FUNimation channel, which is a dubbing group. EVERY anime uses the same voice actors. Not that I mind though. Kinda funny since you notice a pattern on which character they play. Vic Mignogna for example, is usually a very flambouyant blond character, while J Michael Tatum is usually dark sohpisticated characters.

I like it though. Id get upset if I play a game with X-Men's Wolverine thats not voiced by Steve Blum (Spike from Cowboy Bebop)

I have a slightly different issue, every time I see a big bad, I go

"Huh, I think this would work better with Cliff Simon [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliff_Simon] reading it."

Hell, that happens with pretty much every character I see.

How can you stand the ear torture that is dubbed anime? Has it gotten better? I haven't watched any "new" anime in a while :p

( I apologize if that made me sound like a total asshole. I seem to do that a lot )
Is it bad because you heard it in japanese first, or because its actually bad? My brother and I, both anime fans, understand USUALLY, it only depends on which you hear first. I REFUSE to watch Azumanga Daioh in english. Why? Cause I saw it in japanese first...and Osaka's southern bell thing (apparently characters from Osaka are southern belle, since other anime have done it too) annoys me. I also prefer dub though, because one, japanese voices sound too bland to me. And while I can manage just fine reading subtitles, its nicer not having to. Plus I dont usually actively look for anime like some of the more hardcore fans. But usually when I do watch online, I watch it in japanese, but then I am more intent on watching the show. But now I often lay in bed and half watch FUNimation. I dont need to be reading to enjoy it, cause I know the characters by voice.

Actually, most of the anime I've seen, i watched dubbed first. Now whenever I go back to said anime, I cringe at the voice acting and the mispronunciations, and end up just watching it subbed. Full metal Alchemist is the only exception.
FMA is by FUNimation, which is what dubs the anime I watch. What were the dub companies of the "bad" ones? Maybe they were less profesional ones. Not all dub companies are good, but I like FUNimation.

I can't listen to Nassana from ME1/2 without hearing Azula from A:TLA.

... it's funnier because Nassana's an asari.

Nolan North, because he is in pretty much everything. Halo, Marvel games, Uncharted, Call of Duty, Gears of War, Lost Planet, Final Fantasy, literally tonnes of them. Just check out his wikipedia page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nolan_North

It's annoying because I think John Kassir does a much better Deadpool voice, but now I can't get Nolan's voice out of my head as he did him in Spider Man: Shattered Dimensions and MvC3.

Well when I spoke to my ship's computer in Mass Effect 2 and heard Kerrigan's voice I got a little bit scared... and I was overjoyed to hear Jennifer Hale as fem!Shep making it unlikely I'll ever play that game as a male.

Until I looked online, I genuinely thought that John DiMaggio also voiced Grayson Hunt in Bulletstorm.

The lady who does Cortana was in a slew of games for a while and she pretty much did the same voice. I especially remembering hearing her in F.E.A.R 2 and I was like oh god please don't let her be talking this entire game.

This thread would be several times more awesome if BRIAN BLESSED had done the voice for a character in a game. Any character, any game. It can be made better with BRIAN BLESSED doing the voice.

I'm getting better at picking out Johny Young Bosch,it's how I guessed the culprit in Persona 4.Thouggh I aways tend to associate him with Lelouch.
