Starcraft on the N64, best port of all time! Its got a really good n' user friendly interface. You thought it would be absolute shit that you think I'm joking... Impressive graphics for its time, people thought RTS's being on colsole is a bad idea, but this game proves how fantastic this idea is.

Banjo Kazooie and DK64. Those are both great fun and, if you're insane like I am, they will keep you occupied for a long time while you try to go for 100% completion.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Pokemon Snap
Goldeneye 007
Kirby 64
Harvest Moon 64
Banjo-Tooie
Hexen

That's a pretty good list that will keep you occupied for a while.

Pokemon Snap.
I am both happy and sad that I am not the only one to name this one.

Pokemon Snap, it's a nice little on rails game where you take pictures of pokemon, it has a lot of character and can be quite challenging if I remember it rightly.

Also Conkers Bad Fur Day. Do it.

Conker's Bad Fur Day if you have a crude sense of humor. I fucking loved that game, but I was pretty young when I played it. Not sure how funny it would be to me now. Probably funnier, I think I've actually grown less mature.

The obvious Golden Eye if you have any friends to play with.

Mario Kart 64 is another obvious, but still more enjoyable with some friends and really not all that different from the newer version...so not worth the money unless you don't have a Wii.

Harvest Moon 64 was awesome too. I don't know how well it would stand up, but it was really different compared to most games of the time.

Perfect Dark would be another I'd suggest. I actually played it about a year ago and believe me, it didn't stand up that well, but if you can get past the initial curve of forgetting modern FPS stuff it gets better.

Edit: Damn it, ninja'd on Conker.

Here we go bitches.

Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Rayman 2, Donkey Kong 64, Paper Mario, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Yoshi's Story, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Snap, Kirby 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Star Fox 64, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark.

That should be a good start.

Superman 64, proof that before Spiderman 2 and before Batman Arkhem Asylum there were still good superhero games being made.

as someone said earlier, get Conker's Bad Fur Day. The best, and funniest game on the N64. Also the shittiest in the most literal sense of the word ;)

Just how popular was this game? I don't remember that many people playing it back when it was out, but we are 13 posts in (at the time of writing this) and it has been listed 4 times.

I guess it's just really underrated. I almost forgot about it until I saw it on the Virtual Console, and then remembered how awesome it was.

It's one of the only Pokemon games that is still entirely, indisputably original. The gameplay is fun and simple enough for anyone to enjoy, the visuals of the levels are impressive and indeed good enough that players don't mind playing them over and over again. And the final level is just so surreal and fantastic I get goosebumps just thinking about it. No real villains or world-saving quest, just good old-fashioned fun and a little puzzle-solving.

Might be my favorite Pokemon game, with Hey You Pikachu (ANOTHER awesome N64 one, though that one IS partially nostalgia.) and Pokemon Channel (shut up it's a great time killer and something I can play with my little cousin.) just behind it.
