I forgot to mention you can also upgrade your weapons at special weapon upgrade stations, though you can use each of those stations only once. Most weapons need to be upgraded before they become useful, for example the machine gun shoots all over the place without the stabilizer, and the shotgun takes ages between shots without the autoloader. Once you've upgraded a few weapons (remember to get the stabilizer and autoloader before you get the damage upgrades of the machine gun and the shotgun), and learn how to use the different kinds of ammo effectively, the shooting part becomes a lot more fun.Grey_Focks said:

Yeah that Unskippable was pretty accurate, and that worm boss can be a pain in the ass if you're not set up for it properly (you can beat it at a low level with the correct strategy), though most people think that it is the toughest boss in the game. It actually picks up really well from that point - unlocking memories and running into people from your past, it's emotionally gripping stuff to say the least (without spoiling anything).Grey_Focks said:

Lost Odyssey is great if you like JRPGs. You can't go wrong with any game made by Starbreeze either. Condemned: Criminal Origins is good too.

-STALKER: An open-world apocalyptic game, sort of like Fallout 3 with less cuteness and more mutants trying to eat your face. Great mod scene and pretty easy to run.
-All the Warhammer 40k RTS's: I'm not a big fan of RTS, but even I like these games. Very tactical, and I thought very fun. Also I love the setting.
-Metro 2033: An on-rails shooter in the vein of Half Life 2, only much scarier. One of the most atmospheric games ever made, it will scare you, and you will enjoy it. Beware, the game is made by a developer from the old Soviet bloc, and they want to share their misery with you. It's a tough game on even normal settings.
-Saints Row 2: One of the 3 or 4 games Yahtzee has ever said that he likes. What more do I need to say?
-Titan Quest games: From what I've played and heard, basically Diablo 2 knockoffs set in ancient greece. But a good knock off, like Torchlight.
-And some other fluff but who cares.
All that? 50 bucks.

Hmm, well, I could write a 5 page paper on why Persona 3 made me a better person, but I'll try and condense that for you. I'll get the bad stuff out of the way. This game is made by Atlus, which means if you play on the regular difficulty, it WILL kick your ass if you're not ready. That means grinding and checking every nook and cranny for power ups to take on the bosses, and even then you will STILL die sometimes, forcing you to do it all over again. This is alleviated on the "beginner" setting, where I don't think I ever actually grinded or went out of my way to upgrade my guys, I just played and I always won. Since it is also a JRPG, it is long. Very long. I hit 55 hours on my first playthrough, on the easy setting. Also you'll deal with the odd cultural gaps. People will refer to each other with honorifics and the game will not really explain what the hell they're talking about. On that note, if you intend to get the most out of these games you WILL need to keep a guide open on your computer to turn to. There are a lot of sensitive conversations in the game and if you want to max out your friendship meters you'll not want to fuck those up.
So, the good stuff! The ending of the third game will make you cry. Also several things that happen in the game will want to make you cry. Emotional engagement is heavy in this series, they WANT you to care about the characters, and they succeed. There are a few bad social links, but the majority of them, especially your party members in both games, are excellent. The games are essentially segmented into two parts: The social game and the fighting game. The social game involves hanging out with your friends/potential lovers/whatever during the day, conversing about their or your problems. How you act/answer determines how much they like you. As your relationships get stronger, the monsters you can summon become even stronger during the fighting game. The fighting I think is excellent, sort of like pokemon but not much with the cuteness. Your monsters have strengths and weaknesses, and to win you have to exploit the other guys weaknesses and and protect your own. You'll do the standard dungeon crawling bit, go through 8-20 floors (more in the 3rd game, less so in the 4th), fight a boss, get a cool thing and then you have to wait a while before you can do more fighting. It is excellently paced, whenever I got sick of fighting or talking, the other segment would be ready for my attention.
Summing up: Story, characters and gameplay are fun if you have some patience, these are very long games and they don't try and suck you in from the first minute; However if you stick with them I feel they are very rewarding.

Neverwinter Nights: Good story, great gameplay based on the 3.5e DND rules, tons of customization and multiplayer options. The expansions are also must-haves. (I wasn't fond of the sequel)
Deus Ex: There's a reason it's most commonly referred to as "the best game ever". The graphics and AI may be very visibly outdated, but it's still the single most important game for any gamer to play.
Freelancer: A combat spaceflight game with RPG elements, a great story, and (for it's time) superb graphics. It also has huge modding and multiplayer communities.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto: A third-person shooter with RTS elements, this game doesn't have much in the way of replayability but it's fun, funny, and a good game all around.
Total Annihilation: Like old RTS games, but think Starcraft is overrated? TA is the game for you. Amazingly far ahead of it's time for a game from '97, Total Annihilation is still one of my favorite examples of the genre.
Supreme Commander 1: Total Annihilation's spiritual successor, it's everything good about TA wrapped in the package of modern AI and graphics. (Avoid Supreme Commander 2 like the plague, it's a pale, dumbed-down imitation.)
Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy: What a Star Wars game should be. The Force Unleashed was a shiny, chrome-plated turd compared to Jedi Outcast, and even though Academy wasn't as good as Outcast, it's worth playing.
Added bonus, most of the games on this list you can pick up for dirt cheap because of their age.

You didn't read my firs post either, did you? That's okay. I said I was specifically looking for RPGs this time (just listed other genre's I liked to give you guys an idea of what sorts of games I like) and I already have morrowind (as I mentioned in the first post.)Vuljatar said:

Japanese will use different titles at the end of a persons name to show varying amounts of respect or friendliness. They don't do it a LOT in the game, but often enough that you will notice it, and while the titles are explained in the handbook, the in-game the significance of them is not explained.Grey_Focks said:

I think the social parts are excellent and do a great job making you care about the characters, and these relationships are actually integral to the story. Since it doesn't really sound like your thing though, you should try and rent it or borrow from a friend.
three things:
1. The main campaign for the first neverwinter is... well, to put it nicely, mediocre. I know, I know, a Bioware game with a mediocre story, shock, horror, disbelief, accept it and move on. Though there are some excellent mods and the Hordes of the Underdark expansion is baller.
2. NWN2 main campaign is also not stellar. I liked it, but it wasn't amazing. However, the expansion Mask of the Betrayer was written by the guy who made Planescape: Torment, and it shows.
3. Castle crashers has a demo. It has been my experience if you love the demo, you'll love the game. If you don't like the first 30 minutes, you probably won't like it ever.
