Flow: For Love of Water. It's about privatization of water systems around the world. Wasn't bad. Pretty damn serious though, not a "feel good" movie.

Walking with dinosaurs - by far the best pseudo-documentary series ever created.

All watched over by machines of loving grace is also very good. The ending is rather grim though. http://bit.ly/pWJKqj

Adam Curtis has made a long series of exceedingly excellent documentaries. My favorite is The Power of Nightmares, detailing the political background of the islamist and neo-conservative movements, and how they have changed politics by breeding a culture of fear in modern society.

He has also made All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace, which goes over the idea of self-correcting machines, within society, nature and human beings. The first part is hugely about Ayn Rand and the objectivist movements, as well as the rise of computers, the burst of the IT bubble and such.

Lastly (of the ones I know of) he has made The Century of the Self, of which I've only seen the first episode, but which details the change in how we view ourselves, and the rise of consumer culture through the use of psychoanalysis and clever manipulating of advertising.

You can find them all freely available on Youtube. Each episode is roughly an hour long, so you should be good, with all of these series, for about 10 hours. I promise they will be worth it!

Dark Days- Documentary of transient dwellers of subway tracks in New York. Soundtrack by DJ Shadow

In the Realms of the Unreal- The story of Henry Darger, a reclusive and solitary old man working odd jobs by day, and a writer and artist in his own home. Great narration, pace, and animation.

Food Inc. it might seem kinda negative and b=very anti-corporation but its a very intersting story about modern day factory food.

Monster Camp is also a good one, following the story of live action role players and how into their fantasy realms they get.

"Cosmos: A Personal Voyage" by the late Dr. Carl Sagan. One of the most amazing things I've ever watched. If you're at all interested in science, you need to watch this.

Here [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081846/] is the link to its IMDB page. Obviously a rating of 9.5/10 will carry some weight. It's all available to watch on YouTube, too.
