If you want to hear something new I would highly suggest System of a Down, they have a really unique sound, Pretty much everything eles I would suggest has already be mentioned.

Nine Inch Nails :)

Also, try John Butler Trio, their not metal or rock, but i'm sure that John Butlers skills at guitar will satisfy you (listen to funky tonight)

I agree with System of a Down, they are definetly worth a listen.

Ever tried Groove Metal? Pantera my friend, go grab one of their albums

Oh and if you like Melodic death metal, Give Arch Enemy a try

I'm not really into rock anymore, but when I was I used to listen to stuff like Thrice, Audioslave (first album), Dead Poetic, Rise Against, etc.

From the music I listen to now I'd recommend: Jim White, Tacks The Boy Disaster, Death Cab for Cutie (first two albums), Gomez, Mountain Goats, TV on the Radio, The Decemberists, Manu Chao, Bon Iver, The Foals. There's probably more but I'm quite tired at the mo.
