World of Warcraft is Free 2 Play now, and also there is Dungeons and Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online.

its not really free
its a demo. you can only get to lvl20 out of 85
you wont see any of the end game bosses/dungeons

Dungeon Fighter Online [http://dungeonfighter.nexon.net/] is the only MMO I've played and stuck with for more than three weeks (WoW included). Nearing the one year mark.

ninja'd. damn it. but yeah DFO is good fun in the vein of say streets of rage or any game like it crossed with WoW but more fun

Life has murky graphics and the character progression is so slow, it literally takes years to get anywhere.

but life has that human contact thing that i want to try

It's an over rated mechanic and is quite poorly implemented. It can be difficult for some people to use fast travel and sometimes you get held up by other users. Overall the game sucks really.
