Eternal Sonata.

Also...do people read the OP ever or just the thread's title? He already has Fallout 3 and Oblivion and he doesn't like BioWare games yet every other post is filled with Mass Effect and Fallout recommendations...

Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey, Nier, Resonance of Fate, Eternal Sonata, Infinite Undiscovery(If you can get over the whining protagonist), The Last Remnant and finally Enchanted Arms(Voice acting is a bit annoying though, and some people really hated the game for some reason).

I think that's it. I'll come back if I think of any more.

a good console rpg that isn't bioware?!?! I don't thing such a thing exists apart from the fallout series, if you do decide to grow up from a hatred of a company then I recommend dragon age.

Hello fellow Escapists!

After using the search feature, I saw nothing close to this (so either Im an idiot or there are no threads like this), so I thought I would ask.

One of my favorite game genres is the RPG. I lean more towards JRPG's *waits for boos*, but like some WRPG's. Action RPG's are good too. While I am a large fan of Final Fantasy (for the most part), most RPGs just get to me. The reason I ask for opinions is because Escapists arent usually retards, and most major reviewing sites are filled with them. So, what are some good 360 RPGs?

Keep this in mind...

-First person to mention anything from BioWare will get their arms cut off and be beaten with them. I HATE BIOWARE.

-I already own Fallout 3 and Oblivion. They were ok.

-I have no interest in FFXIII.

-360 RPG's. Not Steam, not original Xbox.
Magna Carta II, Two Worlds (haha), Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, Nier, Last Remnant, Lost Oddyssey, etc... Hope that gives you a few.
also, Fable II?

Final Fantasy XIII kept me inter- oh, wait.
Well, Fallout 3 should keep you intere- this is tricky.

I say either get Borderlands or lower your standards.

Ignore those who suggest JRPG's. If you have no interest in FF then you will have no interest in any other JRPG as they're all just clones of each other.
If you're going on that route, you might as well just say every genre's games are clones of other games in the genre. Which is most certainly untrue, but apparently you seem to think so.

I'd recommended Tales of Vesperia among all else, it's a great action JRPGS with great characters even if the story does kind of fall apart in the 3rd act. It still has a lot to do and the game play is nearly perfect with the ability to switch play styles if you get bored with one.

Eternal Sonata gets a buy it if it around 20 bucks recommendation. The battle systems solid and everything works though the battle system gets a little stale if you play for longer periods and if you need to go to a previous area you may need to to a shit ton of walking through old areas avoiding weak enemies.

Looking through this thread makes me realize I need to catch up on my JRPGs once I get though my SMT stuff.

I'm not going to get into a huge discussion about it. It's plain to see for anyone who looks. JRPG's are just clones of each other. They have stagnated. Even Square Enix has said that The JRPG genre is out of date. It's all turn table, androgynous hero's with emo hair styles and swords 20 times to big to lift. You get the odd gem that isn't a complete duplicate of the formula. But they're as similar to each other as all the FPS' that dominated the market back in the early 2000's. All set in WWII.

Demon's souls is the best RPG to come out of Japan period. And that's because it wasn't a conventional JRPG.
Other than the slight fact in which he mentioned he hated Final Fantasy XIII, which people complained about for not sticking to it's Final Fantasy JRPG roots.

This arguement is a conflict of interests, however. I consider JRPGs to have evolved as much as any genre, if not more. Arguably, that is because the entire industry is currently stagnating. Everyone is afraid to try anything new, out of fear it will cost them money and bankrupt them.

RPGs I can recommend:

Enchanted Arms isn't a bad game. You can recruit a robot maid with a chain gun!

Lost Odyssey is an AMAZING game. A lot of the stories you unlock have actually brought me to tears. ESPECIALLY "Little Liar"

Fable 2 is really fun, but I can't force myself to replay it. Put simply, once you've done everything, that's it. However, they say you'll be able to use your Fable 2 save for 3...

The LAst Remnant is... Okay. Not too special. Almost comes off, world wise, as an Ivalice Alliance game, but the gameplay is definitely unique. Worth at least renting.

Eternal Sonata was okay, but I couldn't get into it. Made me a big fan of Chopin's music, though.

Haven't tried Tales of Vesperia, and I don't think Two Worlds is really THAT bad. It's a fun little distraction for me, and , truth be told, I'd take it over any Bethesda game, save maybe Daggerfall. It has a lot of great ideas, but a lot of them just aren't executed well.

Blue Dragon, if you enjoy FF like fighting this is the game for you, with good voice acting, comical dialouge and a sweet boss theme, check it out.
