Tales of Vesperia is definitely your best bet. I consider it the best RPG on the 360. Likeable characters, good story and one of the most fantastic battle systems in any RPG really make it shine.

The only two RPG's I've played from the east on my 360 were Vesperia and Eternal Sonata. I hated both for fairly different reasons, but a lot of people loved them. I suppose if you are a JRPG fan they'd be worth your time, though frankly, in good conscience I could not recommend either.

RDR is not a rpg in the sense that has been defined by the genre. Of course, technically it can be said that all games are rpgs, but need we really open that can of worms? Also, Fable 2 is more and adventure game than a rpg. Think Zelda, only less developed, more gimmicky, and far less action/platform oriented.

There's no way you can think they've evolved more. They're all pretty much the same. Same story telling, same character design, same antagonistic forces, same symbolism same gameplay mechanics. It's all turntable. Tweek it however you want it's still all turntable. Turntable is outdated. There is no need for it at all.

It was fine when they had to sacrifice gameplay for size and scale. They don't need to do that now. JRPG's need to look at what Demon's souls did. If they take their games in that direction they might actually become fun.
The fuck do you mean by turntable, turn based combat? I haven't played a J"RPG" with actual turn based combat since FFX. I haven't played anything that resembles an actual RPG since Planescape: Torment either. Turn based is absolutely fine with me since it's the most realistic way of doing combat, pull out all the time spent scrolling through menus and it looks like an actual fight. Unlike say Mass Effect which happens in real time so if you want to use an ability you have to hold down a button then rotate through the menu to find what you want while everything else is still happening around you so something that should only take a second of real time to do takes much longer.

step 1. go to your local shop
step 2. buy a playstation 3 (if have no moneyz trade in 360 or get a job)
step 3. buy these three great rpgs for your new ps3: Demons souls, yakuza 3 and Valkyria chronicles
step 4. sit back with your controller and let the good times roll

Seriously these three exclusive rpg's are much better than all of the exclusive 360 rpg's combined.

Plus Lost oddessy is overrated as hell and the storyline is pretty mediocre in my opinion.

Their's also talk that tales of vesperia (ps3 version) will soon get a release in America and europe anyway (it also has more content than the 360 version).

Final fantasy 13 on the ps3 is in full HD unlike the 360 version.

Both star ocean 4 and eternal sonata are also on the playstation 3 they of which also have more content than the 360 version.

So the best advice i can give you is to buy a playstation 3.

Well...that's really his only choice if he wants to play the best in rpg's on consoles. the only 360 exclusive rpgs i can think of is fable 2, blue dragon, magna carta 2, infinte undiscovery and lost oddessy (only fable 2 is really worth playing).

Magna Carta 2 is a pretty good Korean RPG. There's NIER...but thats more a hacky-slashy Monster Hunter kind of thing.

There arn't any. Or very few at the most. The closest you will get to a real RPG on an Xbox is an FPS with RPG elements. Following that line, get Bioshock. The second one has better gameplay, but the first has better story and atmosphere, plus it makes more sense. I mean, a Big Daddy smashing in a Splicer's head with a drill does the same amount of damage as a wrench?

He never said anything about exclusives... he wants a decent RPG on the 360 regardless if it's on PS3 as well (hence he has Fallout 3) and their are many RPG's on the 360 that are worth trying.

Saying it's his only choice sounds a bit stupid if you ask me, it's not his only choice, as stated above, (in my post and others) their are many decent RPG's on the 360, him saying he doest like BIOWARE just made things a little difficult, as most of BIOWARE'S RPG's are great.

Ignore those who suggest JRPG's. If you have no interest in FF then you will have no interest in any other JRPG as they're all just clones of each other.
You're an idiot who's obviously only played two JRPGs ever
play FFXIII, Tales of Vesperia and The Last Remnant (all from this gen) and then tell me they're all clones, if you can honestly say that you don't quite understand what makes any game different.

First person to mention anything from BioWare will get their arms cut off and be beaten with them. I HATE BIOWARE.
May I ask why? I honestly can't recommend any 360 rpg that is better then the Mass Effect games.
