Well, unfortunately I'm not from the US nor Canada so I wouldn't know about Netflix. But if you're at all willing to step out of those three topics, I'd recommend Helvetica. It's about the font Helvetica. Yes I'm being serious, and it's WAY more interesting than it sounds.

I think there's a series called Prison or something along those lines. It looks at gangs in prison and whatnot. Just search National Geographic in the bar, and you'll find it. It'll cover the prison and serial killer bits.

I guess it would be related to topics 1 and 3, but Gangland, a History Channel docu-series, is available on Instant Queue. It's quite interesting show in my opinion. But that should lead you to a lot of prison documentaries.

Well completely off topic but I Need That Record is an interesting documentary about record shops if that's your thing. I enjoyed it a lot.

I have no idea about those subjects. However you may find something about them in lois theroux's weird weekends. For sheer fun metal: a headbangers journey or global metal. Super high me is an interesting watch too.

Based on the second topic you suggested I guess you might have seen "fat, sick and nearly dead" already. If not it's exactly what you want. It's about an Australian travelling across America while on a serious diet. Doesn't sound that great until he starts getting some followers...then the whole thing snowballs.

Also sightly on the subject of prison check out "the masters of money" it's long, slow and does contain the early 90's but in the end mind=blown. Enjoy.

Actually I saw that in class for graphic design, was strangely interesting.

UFO's: The Secret Evidence, even if you don't believe in that sort of stuff it is still a really interesting documentary.

edit
In my haste to reply I didn't read the OP properly regarding the topics sorry.

I still stand by my original statement however.

Supersize Me is a good one that deals with the fast food industry's contribution to a plethora of health problems, including obesity.

World War 2 Behind Closed Doors deals with prisons and mass murder but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for. America's Brutal Prisons from the BBC was also interesting but if you're American you might dislike it.

I'm a fan of Exit through the Gift Shop... though it's probably not as factual as it could be. :)
