I am not looking for anything elite. I just want something that can play something like Portal 2 with medium/high Quality at about 30-40 frames a second at my screens full resolution.

I don't WANT High settings! Just a good 30ish frame rate at full resolution!

Ok, what does "high settings" mean to you?
Models, Textures, Shading, Water Reflections, Anti Anylyzing... (That right? I don't know...) all on high.
Oh, ok, so you want medium/high quality at 40fps.

Without hitting high settings?

Get the 520, it'll be an upgrade from what you have, just don't expect anything stellar.

EVGA superclocked? That's industry code for "This idiot can't work out how to overclock his graphics card even though there are step by step foolproof systems to do so" -_-

I daresay you're unlikely to get very impressive (even for a budget build) results from a 300W PSU alone. You could at least grab an $80 Corsair 600W and a Radeon HD 6870/GTX 560 TI...

Yeah I know, I just went to Newegg, searched for a 690 and a 680 and clicked the first result.

What's your PSU?
No idea. But the side of the Power Supply says 300W max.
Radeon 7750, go go.

because it's cheap, powerful (for the money) and draws all it's power from your PCIEx16 slot.
Do...

er...

Do you not know where the PCIEx16 slot gets its power from?
The point of course, is that a 7750 doesn't need external power connectors.
OK, fine. I got that. I just wanted to pretend to know more about things than someone on the internet.

(But really, was that post actually intended to follow on to the one about having a 400W PSU?)

First off, it's an AMD product, I don't do any further research on AMD cards beyond "does it need a PSU connector or not" because they're all shit.

Also, dude's got a budget of $40. I spend more than that in a week on coffee.
