Been wanting to watch a good horror movie. Anyone have any suggestions that are on netflix? Maybe something obscure that I've never heard of before as chances are I've seen a lot of the more popular stuff.

Some specifics please. Do you want a slasher, ghost story, monster etc. Does it need to be in English because I know some good Japanese ones too

"Splinter" is a pretty damn good Horror film, it's got some reasonable acting, it's pretty scary compared to other films and it's really, REALLY hard to watch in some scenes and it's also pretty obscure..But I have no idea if it's on Netflix

But you know, it's something to look out for

As DrRockor said, any specific type?

Anywho off the top of my head...

Shutter (NOT the remake, the original Thai version)
Tale of Two Sisters (Korean)
The Orphanage
Pulse (NOT the remake, the original Japanese film. It was such a weird obscure movie, but it really stuck with me)

I think all of those involve subtitles, just a heads up.

Watch "The Changeling" with George C. Scott (NOT the movie of the same name with Angelina Joile; it is unrelated). Not only is it the scariest movie I've ever seen, it has a great plot as well. If you can't find that movie, rent "El Orfanato". It's also very scary and has a nice twist at the end.

The Thai version of Shutter has already been mentioned.
28 Days Later really freaked me out, but I'm actually easily spooked and don't really like horror. I was bullied into watching both of these.

Well if you're in Asian horror (including reading the subtitle) than I highly recommend this Korean horror "Tales of Two Sisters".

Birdemic: Shock and Terror

Alright, alright, maybe not that one.

Lemme go through my big list of horror movies (yes, I keep track on the horror movies I've watched because I'm mental) and see if I can find anything worth recommending.

(trying to avoid the most well-known movies and also shit that I like even though it's undeniably awful)
Candyman (obligatory mention because it's one of my favorite slasher movies of all time)
The Crazies
Dead Birds
Dead Snow
Insanitarium

(Jack Ketchum's) The Girl Next Door
The Loved Ones
Martyrs
The Mist
The Poughkeepsie Tapes
(I dunno, I didn't find it scary, but I can see why other people would)
Sauna
Splinter
(seconding TheFunPolice - it's a great movie)
Trick 'r Treat

Look them up first, though. My taste in movies is infamous for being pretty damn questionable and I wouldn't even take my own word for these movies actually being good. Especially seeing how it's been a while since I saw some of these, so my memory may be making them up to be better than they actually are.
(It's 13 out of some 400 movies, so you'll have to forgive my memory)

Lo (Extremely campy, but also amazing.)
Repo: The Genetic Opera
Ju-on (All of these are good. Do not watch the remade american garbage.)
Tokyo Zombie
Evil Dead (And its sequel. The third one is more a comedy than a horror)
Taxidermia (This one is weird, more than horror, but still worth watching at least once.)

Martyrs, Inside, Kill List (kind of). The REC films are pretty awesome too, and keep your eyes open for V/H/S coming out soonish - looks intense

The original House on Haunted Hill is my all time favorite black and white horror movie. I cant really say why, but I always go back to that one.

Dorm was a great movie (Thai) but it wasn't really scary at all. It's kind of like The Devil's Backbone as the supernatural elements was more of a backdrop to the coming-of-age story.

If you want actual horror though, I second Shutter, Tale of Two Sisters, and The Orphanage.
I also liked Insidious, Black Death, Arang, and Shiver.

All of them are on Instant Streaming, I think.

Session 9 is a great horror film.
Strange Circus is good, really messed up, but interesting.
Rec is a great one, watch the original version though, don't go for Quarantine.
The Woman in Black was a fantastic film.
The Shining is a brilliant film.
Jacobs Ladder
The Innocents (1961) is a really good film, based on the book The Turn of the Screw.
Audition
Shutter

Well its technically not a film but I seriously do recommend watching Marble Hornets, its all on you tube in like 2 minute parts or so, which seems odd at first but makes sense if you pay attention.
