Action, Eh?

How about Paycheck? Starts slow, gets REALLY interesting, ending is good enough.

Besides that, I'm willing to bet you haven't seen it yet.
You just lost a bet! I thought the concept and action was pretty cool, but I'm not really a Ben Affleck fan. I don't really think he's a very good actor.
Aw man, I needed that $20...

Yeah, B.A. kinda threw me until I saw it. I get more into story than the characters watching a movie. Don't know why.

OT: This is a good thread. I'll continue.

How about, Titan A.E.? It is kind of meh, but it is always good for a slow evening. Or iRobot, though it's possible that one just tickles my "Tech Nerd" nerve, and isn't all that good to other people. : /

All i've watched recently are the "Angry Beavers" cartoons available on Netflix. Sorry if I disapoint.

Versus is one of the most mind-blowingly awesome action movies of all time.
The Crow has some fantastic fights too.
If you're willing to step further into the past then The Eiger Sanction, They Live, Sorcerer and The Thing are all fantastic, although the last two are more suspense then action.
...and the original Death Race 2000 is not to be missed either.

For people who prefer to live in the present, I add my recommendation for Sin City and District 9.

Aliens, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, The Crow, Demolition Man, The Fifth Element, Hot Fuzz, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Shaun of the Dead are all good action-y movies with a good bit of humor (mostly black or Gallows humor) thrown in.

Inglorious Basterds, District 9, Equilibrium, 30 Days of Night
God, I love all those movies except Inglorious Basterds. I thought it was a little disappointing, especially after it was advertised in a way that made it seem like a fast-paced action movie.

District 9, Equilibrium, and 30 Days of Night were just awesome, though.
It's a Tarentino movie, yeesh, what did you excpect?
Oh right.

Well that was a silly thing to expect.
I know, I'm just saying the only thing they showed in the commercials were the Basterds tearing up Nazis with machine guns and baseball bats, and then it turns out that what the commercials showed was the only action in the entire thing.

I suppose, but commercials aren't there to tell you anything about the movie, or at least not for a while they aren't. They're just there to show you all the best bits, to spare you the trouble of watching it.

Alright pal, here's what you need to do.

Don't worry about going out to a theater, just rent a little gem called The Big Lebowski.

Take it home, make yourself a tasty beverage (white russian preferred), put on some confy clothes and sit back and watch a piece of cinematic gold the way it demands to be seen.

... Or there's always Beavis and Butthead Do America...

Hmmm... Angry Beavers, you say? Man I loved that show as a kid.

Brazil by Gilliam. Very. Very. Very. Good.

Any other forumers who are reading this and have seen Brazil are obliged to vocally agree with me.
This is also pretty damn good. The ending is unforgettable.
I know right? I watched repo men last week and it completely ripped off Brazil's ending, though I did find repo men amusing anyway.

Simple enough, I am bored and looking for a movie to watch. Anybody who stumbles into this thread, feel free to recommend a movie for me, and anyone else, to watch.

Personally, I'm looking for something in the action or sci-fi genre, but feel free to include any must-watch movies from any genres.

Edit-edit: Well, thank you to everyone for your suggestions, I have made my choice. The movie I shall watch--for the exactly zero people who care--is... Maniac Cop! A movie from the late eighties because it has Bruce Campbell in it! A movie which no one suggested!

I was browsing a list of movies, trying to find something cool, and I clicked it solely because of the name. Now I'm watching it because it promises to be a cheesy action-horror B-movie.

So, thank you for playing everyone, feel free to keep mentioning movies for the benefit of everyone else.
The Crow, The Crow City of Angels, Reno! The Genetic Opera, Repo Men, Kingdom of Heaven (Director's cut edition), oh Event Horizon is a GREAT movie. Pandorum was good too . . . eh, sort of . . . but Event Horizon was incredible, especially if you liked the game Dead Space.

The first D&D movie was pretty hilarious honestly . . . the second one took itself too seriously and ended up like being a way more epic (in ego) version of Reign of Fire with a bullshit romance sub plot.

uhhhhh not that much else to think of off the top of my head except well . . . ANYTHING BURTON. ALL OF THEM . . . YES ALL OF THEM.

Dark City.

Ink.

Jacob's Ladder (which does Brazil's ending much better than Brazil)

Hard Boiled (The original two-gun shoot 'em up, and the one what did it best)

The Killer

Sunset Boulevard.

Dirty Harry

Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

If I hath been ninja'd about any of these, I apologize.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time was highly enjoyable, but it's anime, so it's not everyone's cup o' tea. Another good one was Tekkonkinkreet, and Paprika. Both anime, both very good movies.
