I'd suggest Homestuck if you like plot comics.

Everything else has been suggested already.

Me again!

I just noticed that it's somehow managed to slip through without a mention but Axecop is supposed to be pretty damn good.

Hi Guys,

I just released my first Issue Comic free on the web... Trying to get some feedback (maybe even some fans). It's professionally produced. Go check it out if you can spare some time :))

Yes, yes it is.

Also Dr. McNinja, other than that the ones I read have already been mentioned.

EDIT: I somehow missed that someone had mentioned DR. McNinja, so I'm sorry for wasting your time.

For me, the novelty wore off pretty quick. So OK, it's based on a little kid's twisted imagination, but there's only so much surrealism you can get at once.

Also, I think nobody mentioned Order of the Stick yet. Although it's quite text-heavy, I think it's really worth going through the 778 episodes so far to catch up on the plot... and I'm not really helping my case at all, am I?

EDIT: Ah, it's been mentioned. And with a link!

Schlock Mercenary. Hilarious webcomic that follows a band of Mercenaries as they hurt people and save the galaxy for fun and profit. I should warn you though that the archive is very large as the author has published a strip every day for the past ten years. The first six "books" are available in hard copy format though so that can help.
