Fall Out Boy
"Infinity On High"
2007
Pop-Punk/Indie Rock
10

Best work from a band who is hated by every metalhead, punk, and 'real' music fan because of their popularity. If you sit back, forget who they are, and listen to their music, you'll find they make better pop-rock than about any other band around. Catchy tunes, a soulful voice from Pat Stump, and fun songs are a staple. Also they have a very varied sound, and it you don't think so then you are simply stuck up your own ass. I'm not one of their droning fangirls which earn them such hate, but I'm definetly a fan of theirs regardless.
there is to much fail in this to even grasp. fall out boy is not indie! how dare you say such a thing! oh and they aren't hated because there populer there hated because there terrible.

anyway...
Sorry... who are you again?
someone with better taste in music than you aperantly.
And someone who needs a lesson in spelling. Just because you like noise doesn't mean you have better taste than me.

But please, do give me a good reason to not like Fall Out Boy. A specific point that can be argued other than "They suck".

And also, how does your liking one single band, disliking one of the five that I've listed, and then saying so, cause you to have a better taste in music than me?

Band: Enter Shikari
Album: Take to the Skies
Released: April 2007
Genre: Trance/Hard rock/Indie/Screamo
Rating: 9/10
Reason: The most Orginal band to come out of the uk in recent years. The whole album has such a sheer variety of mindblowing sounds and the tracks are so memorable. They were edged into my mind for quite some time (does the Johnny sniper salut).

Suidakra - Emprise To Avalon
Released - 2002
Score - 10/10

Possibly the finest album released by German melodic death metal band Suidakra. As with previous albums, Emprise To Avalon was heavily influenced by Celtic folk music and history. With tracks such as the epic Pendragon's Fall and the brilliantly lyrical Darkane Times only Caledonia (2006) comes close to matching Emprise To Avalon's mix of death metal vocals and battle metal riffs.

Definitely a must for any fans of bands such as Turisas, Einsiferum, Finntroll etc

Band: Queens of the Stone Age
Album: Songs for the Deaf
Release date: 2002
Genre: Hard Rock
Rating: Excellent

Reason: It sounds good to listen to, What else? :D
I have no deeper reason than the music is well made, it's not overproduced and it's full of great heavy rocks songs. Basically a good trek through the world of C tuning and heavy rhythmic riffing.

My reasoning would be that fall out boy sounds way too similar to the same produced sound common within the pop-rock/emo genre. It is rather simplistic approach to music with no real differentiation between songs.

I would say your assertion it is due to popularity they are disliked it totally incorrect, they are hated because their music symbolises everything that is wrong with popular music nowadays, lack of individuality, simplicity of music and over-produced sound, often relying on the image the record companies project or the band styles themselves as in order to fit a brand. There is nothing to latch onto for a listener in order to say they are a fantastic band, more a style in which to model yourself over.

But that is no reason not to stop listening to them, if you enjoy that particular sound, then that changes nothing in terms of what you enjoy to listen to. As musical taste simply says what you enjoy, not what you respect(hence there is no better or worse as you said, and I agree with you upon). But I would disagree when you say popularity is the reason to hate them (although you aren't wrong in many cases) and I also say there are reasons to dislike a band past their music.

I have the most diverse and deep taste in music on these boards
You got any proof of that?
I'm a guy who loves anything from JS Bach, Edward Elgar, to Thelonious Monk, to Led Zep, to Eminem, Rhianna, to Emperor, Darkthrone, Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Trivium, etcetcetc...

pretty diverse if you ask me. Back on subject, I'd recommend Guns n Roses new album, Chinese Democracy, because i think its the most bold, innovative, and grandiose mainstream album that's come out in a long time

Band: Marcy Playground
Album: Marcy Playground
Release Date: 1997
Genre: Alternative Rock
Rating: 9

I Would have chosen a beatles album, seeing as they are my favorite band, but I thought about this one since I thought no one would have heard of Marcy Playground. I chose it because if you like alternative rock you will love it. They are a great band that never really got going and no longer do much of anything. So check it out.

Band: Clutch
Album: Blast Tyrant
Release: 2004
Genre: groove/hard rock
Rating: 9/10

A great album with a good range of songs, from rollicking tunes like "Cypress Grove" and "The Mob Goes Wild" to more somber fare like "The Regulator" and "Eulogy for a Ghost". Great musicianship, vocals, and thought-provoking lyrics. Just plain good rock music :D

Band: Falconer
Album: Among Beggars and Thieves
Release: 2008
Genre: Nordic Metal
Rating 8/10

Another good release from a great band that even amongst the metal scene, few truly appreciate. Truly good medieval sound, awesome vocals, and the songs themselves are each a tale in their own.

Band: Estradasphere
Album: Palace of Mirrors
Release: 2006
Genre: Avant-Garde/Jazz/Experimental
Rating 10/10

A while ago I decided to look up similar artists to John Zorn's Naked City, because I was in an Avant-Garde mood. I got Quadropus from Estradasphere, what I didn't know was that it's their worst, I never heard anything like it. Surfer Rock, Gypsy Music, Bebop Jazz, Dubstep, Death Metal, all from one band, on one album? Who is this? Well, after getting Buck Fever and It's Understood, this band quickly became a personal favorite of mine. Yet one can only write using multiple genres and, admittedly, some gimmicks for so long. Out they come with Palace of Mirrors.

Loosely a concept album (incorporating no vocals except a female Opera Soprano) based on a short story called "Horse Coffin." This group is a wickedly talented sextet that doesn't just play every genre you can think of, they can truly write in every genre you can think of. This time out, their eclectic nature takes a backseat for once, allowing them to finally achieve a very structured and complete work. Long time fans should not feel discouraged, it's brilliant, it weaves many genres seamlessly together without the dramatic leaps known to occur on previous albums.

These guys set out to make a gripping, powerful, fleshed out work of music that has succeeded overwhelmingly. Once again, the band also does a good job of not taking themselves too seriously, no more is this apparent than in the Palace of Mirrors DVD, which features a live performance of this album along with an hour + of bonus footage, very worthwhile as well. I digress, that's irrelevant in a way, I'm here to talk about the album itself. Estradasphere has released the kind of work I hoped they would, something less about experimentation, and more about feeling complete. The Jazz is still there, the wild build up of A Corporate Merger from soft, Easy Listening which slowly erupts into some of the most intense seconds of Metal ever written. The songs are all in good fun, the recurring theme is brilliant, the musicians are the real deal; talented composers who can really play. This band deserves all of the attention in the world.

This is easily their masterpiece.
