Recommend Anime

A lot of good ones have already been suggested, so it's tough to say anything. Probably Elfen Lied, Azumanga Daioh and Pokemon(ONLY THE FIRST SEASON!!! IT'S CRAP NOWADAYS!!). I'm currently watching FLCL thanks to this thread. Also, if you HAVE to watch Fullmetal Alchemist, try the manga instead. Anime was WAY inferior.

Have you seen the new Fullmetal? They say it follows the manga more closely than the first anime. And after watching both I think I can safely say at wich point the first started to deviate. Anyhow, Im just kinda throwing this out there.

The backstory Samurai X is also a really good intro into RK.

I'm not sure how good an intro the OVAs are. They are excellent, but a lot of their impact on me came from how much Kenshin had changed. I think its a better idea to watch the series first, so you have an established idea of Kenshins character.

Vision of Escaflowne, the most romantic story involving giant robots I have ever seen.

Actually the original manga had a long flashback chapter after the Kyoto arc, before they returned to Tokyo. The original story ended with Kenshin quitting his role as Battousai and Shishio taking it over for him.
After the flashback his ex's little brother Enishi returns to take revenge.

I always thought they made the OVA because they figures they screwed up the story and still wanted to have that part of his past in anime form.

On a side note, kudos for mentioning Escaflowne. That show is heavenly.

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. It basically parodies EVERYTHING in anime. Your gonna either like it or hate it.

If he doesn't watch anime he won't get the parody. DRAGON BALL Z! and Death Note (I never watched it, but I did read the manga.)

Anyone who hates Naruto has a short attention span, needs instant gratification, doesn't like that he happens to fall into annoying cliches, and watches to much anime to truly sit down and get into one.

one time the guide on my tv had that show written down in the food network. It obvisously wasnt it but I explained it to my dad and he got to hang his head in shame

FMA is amazing. I might get crucified for this, but, I really like Naruto as well. I'm more into the manga than the anime though.
