So I'm dipping my toe into comic books with Ms. Marvel for ...reasons*. But mainly because I'm a multicultural omnivore and there really is nothing more interesting to me than stories written from a perspective which isn't like mine.

However in very broad terms I think I might prefer the things DC can do (when they get it right) to the things Marvel does. People have told me that the Marvel focus tends to be a little bit more in the moment and adventure-based compared to DC. So I was just wondering if DC had a line that was similarly unique (and not an alien :p) that I could try out too?

I think the other replies are from people not realizing that you mean the new Ms. Marvel. DC doesn't really do a lot of teenaged heroes that aren't sidekicks. I think your best bet is Static Shock, not so much the recent series. But the one that came out in the 90s. I have no idea if it's currently in print though.

Young Justice are the main teenaged DC bunch, but DC doesn't seem to really do much in the way of heroes with different cultures unless they're aliens or Atlanteans or whatever. That's more of a Marvel thing.

Because she's Muslim? Unless it has something to do with gender i wouldn't worry about it.

I can't recommened much(i stopped reading the new 52 because it is pretty bad.)But i do recall one new story which was about an African batwing fighting injustice in his country. Its part of Batman inc.

Are you reading the new Iranian Ms Marvel? or old school white girl Ms Marvel?

For old version, Wonder Woman or Supergirl would be my first thoughts. Haven't read new Ms Marvel, so I can't speak on that yet.

If you mean teenaged heroes (blech romance related angst) then go for Teen Titans in the new 52. The nice thing about the new 52 (DC's sort of reboot) is usually you don't need the 20-60 years of backstory to get what's going on and if you're buying omnibuses they're numbered vol. 1, 2,3 nice and neat.
