Hello, I am looking for advice on a game to Let's Play.

I just finished my first let's play evah, on Dead Space 2, and now I'm looking for a game to fill in between now and when the gaming season starts again.

I'm looking for a game, or maybe two. 1 needs to be of decent age graphically wise and viewable at 1080p (if there are games that are too old but can achieve this via mod or texture packs they are very welcome).

Preferably Horror or something challenging, F3ar is out though, already let's playing that with a friend.

The second game (if I can manage Let's Playing two at once) I'd like it to be old, I started gaming in the playstation 1 era so everything below that is completely new to me, and I'd like to experience something from the gaming roots, so emulator stuff or something from good old games or wherever or a HD remake of a classic game.

For all games it needs to be online distributed or not older then 5 months.

My system specs are as following:

Quad Core AMD Phenom 3.0 Ghz
6 GB of Ram with two 4600 series videocards in crossfire.

As I can't for the life of me think of anything, any and all recommendations are hugely appreciated, bonus points if it can be played with a controller.

hm, I'm not sure what to suggest for the newer game, now for the older game I have a lot of ideas.

few quick examples: dune 2 (or dune 2000), Ufo: enemy unknown, cannonfodder, fantasy world dizzy, mechwarrior 2, shadow of the beast 1 or 2, the secret of monkey island, day of the tentacle, sam and max hit the road.

Not sure if they would be the kinda thing you'd enjoy.

You could try Crysis 2, it's quite new and it looks fantastic.

I don't think that game looks like fun but, I can't tell other people what to think, you might like it?

EDIT: I think I'll check out your videos and try to find out what games you're into. :)

Could you first actually post a link to your LP so we can judge a game for you based on your style of commentary?

For example: Horror games clash tremendously with both humourous and audio commentary styles.

Do what everyone does.

Amnesia The Dark Decent. It's cheap and will make you piss your pants.

EDIT I guess amnesia is too old then, I think it's just over 1 year old... There have been few good horror games over the years so to ask for 1 in the last 6 months is neigh on impossible.
Thought about doing Amnesia, but it wouldn't be blind so most if not all fear reactions would be missing or acted. Plus I really disliked Daniel at the end so I'd probably ***** about being him again throughout the LP.

Wow, awesome suggestions. Looking up on them, Dune sounds fun to do. Ufo looks to me like a really hard game to go into for the first time.

Fantasy World Dizzy and Shadow of the Beast look absolutely epic! I'm keeping those in the back of my head for sure, thanks for the tip.

Heh no worries man. Ufo would indeed be a little heavy for a first time play though thats true. Shadow of the beast 1&2 and fantasy world dizzy are kinda hard games too so watch out. ;p

shadow of the beast 2 has the best game over music of any game in my opinion though. :)

Link is here as for the style: crappy, awkward mumbling? :p

It's a labor of love, I like video games and recording them.

As for games I enjoy, everything aside from racing and point and clicks.

I'm sold, Shadow of the Beast 2 looks and sounds epic, now it's just a matter of getting the game legally.. which I'm finding extremely hard. Any direction I should be looking?

Do a game that will get the most spectacular performance out of you if youre doing a live commentary LP.

OR if youre going to submit it to the LP archive instead of just dumping it on Youtube you can try a game that you liked that you think deserves a little more exposure.

Hmm, I only have the original amiga version. I think it might be abandonware now, getting a "legal" version may well not be possible anymore.

I'd say look up Good Old Games and browse through their catalog, maybe find something you've forgotten or just 'sounds cool'.

You do know the rule(more like guideline) not to LP games that are 6 months or newer, right[footnote]Before anyone debate me on this it´s because so you get to know the game better and not playing it blind[/footnote]?...

Anyway I would suggest Princess Maker 2 for DosBox... It´s weird, let´s leave it at that.

Hmm, I would suggest a game that isn't massively long.

Maybe Singularity for xbox 360? It's a good game.

Not sure about other horror games though - Maybe Amnesia? I don't know.

The problem is it's not going to be a spectacular performance regardless of the game :p

Also the games I honestly truly love are the elder scrolls series. But I doubt anyone anywhere in the history of ever wants to see me spend 2 hours 'decorating' my imperial shack, that and it has plenty of exposure everywhere.

Dead Rising.

What, you need reasons? Umm... it's my favorite game. ;)
I would get all Frank West up in here if it was available on the pc :(
I have plans for purchasing a HD recording device for the xbox it's just not anywhere soon.

No I did not, I am new. Honestly I'm still scratching my head over a previous comment about LP archive. Thanks for the tip though.

Edit: I prefer video's of blind let's plays myself, especially if it's recorded in one go (audio and video) so the reactions are genuine. Video LP's at least feel very acted out most of the times if not blind unless they are meant to be more video-walkthrough then Let's Play. But again, I'm new.
