If you like RPGs, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is damn good. Excellent combat, huge world to explore, addictive gameplay and good art design. You get so much RPG for your money with KOA that it's a great bargain. If not, I've been hearing very good things about Dragon's Dogma.

Thief Gold Edition, Mount & Blade, Final Fantasy 7 re-release or Shadows of the Damned. Three good, old PC time-sinks and a 360 pick up and play you can rent or buy cheap.
It's only available from Squenix's online store, which I think requires yet another client besides Steam, GFWL and Origin (which almost all PC gamers have by this point; they really don't need a fourth) and it also comes loaded down with SecuROM. You'd be better off getting a PS1 and a copy of the game from eBay.
Nah, just its own launcher. Besides, modders are working on getting mods they made for the old PC release, for the new release. PLus, it's only $10 for an all time classic, and one of my favorite games of all time.
Some people managed to buy the game because Squenix accidentally posted it for sale early. They wound up not being able to play the game, because SecuROM. It was in the Escapist's newsreel a week or two back. Game's got SecuROM. And apparently, they hardly put any effort into the port - even if it is cheap, and a classic, I still recommend the original PS1 version over it.

Captcha: Describe Apple however I want to. Hmm..."Figured out how to sell it, not make it."
Yeah, but it's so much harder to mod the PS1 version, which still costs a lot more than $10.
What if he doesn't intend to mod it? Not all PC gamers innately want to mod everything. Heck, I know people who didn't even download any bug fix mods for Oblivion!

Recently OUTLAND became free for PSN+ members, and it's a freaking GEM.
Not sure if it's on the XBL, but it's damn good.

The Witcher or Witcher 2 could easily occupy your time until the holiday release schedule starts rolling out the next big titles. Both games are fairly engrossing and feature non-black-and-white morality choices with far-reaching consequences on potential outcomes. There's also a fair bit of lore behind the games if that interests you. Both have been patched pretty aggressively to address gameplay, aesthetics, and balance issues.

Retail versions of the game have no DRM (Witcher 2 DRM is removed via patch 1.1). Also, the GOG.com versions can be launched straight from your desktop (if you would prefer to bypass Steam) and the "Enhanced Edition" upgrades are free. You also get digital copies of all the literature that would come with the retail versions of the game (the manual, soundtracks, concept art, etc.).

I'd put up a whole freakin list but honestly I'm too damn lazy so I'll just say play Fallout: New Vegas. It's great. Hell, just play any Fallout game if you haven't yet. Even Fallout 3 which I'd say is the weakest of the series is still pretty good (not including brotherhood of steel, we don't talk about that one).

One of the 2 Ys games on steam or Reccetear

If you are bored imo you should try a genre you normally don't play. my 2cents play an arcade game like a shmup (playing for highscore or the 1CC is better than casual play)

Try Deathsmiles on the 360 or Jamestown or the Exceed collection on Steam (good shmups for noobs and casual players).

Don't like shmups? play Xotic its a FPS with shmup highscore in it (the 360 version just got knocked down to 400msp)

Ever tried speedrunning? Play Sonic Generation or Dustforce

If you have an old-school PS2, I highly recommend Xenosaga for your RPG needs. The graphics are slightly outdated, but the story and gameplay are top notch. If you enjoyed the game follow it up with Xenosaga 3 (skip 2, it was a disaster and in 3, there's a log that will tell you all the events that happened between 1 and 3). Great games.

Also, Fatal Frame 2 is a personal favorite if you're looking for something a bit different.

RPG... which do you mean? There's "RPG" like Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem, and then there's "RPG" like The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

Since you like Stealth, Rocksteady's Batman games seem to be at the top of the line. There's also Thief, Splinter Cell, and Metal Gear. And I really don't know all that much about them, so you may need to look around, yourself.

"Free Roam"... You want games that let you traverse large, open landscapes. Is that it?
In that case, I can name a few franchises that do this in different genres.

For platformers, I would strongly recommend Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64. If you've even heard of Super Mario 64, you should know that these are within the same "Collecthon" genre, except that the three of them are all leagues better than Super Mario 64. They're huge, colorful, try to keep doing something different all the time, are loaded with hidden goodies, and are some of the mos hilarious games I've ever played. The best of these is Banjo-Kazooie for me.

If sandbox games are your thing, I've been playing the grandfather of sandbox lately: Grand Theft Auto III. I'm not familiar with the series, as this is the only installment I've played, though I've been told that the best GTA title is San Andreas. I was hesitant to play at first, considering these games are about street crime. But then, I discovered that Grand Theft Auto is downright bonkers. So, no worries about it being a proper crime simulator. However, my two favorites in the sandbox genre currently remain to be inFAMOUS and [Prototype]. Why? Because, when it comes to traveling through sandbox environments, there's no better way for me to do it that when I have super powers. inFAMOUS has a moral choice system, and [Prototype] over-the-top explosive. They're both very good, but virtually nothing alike. Just sandbox games with super powers. The Red Dead series seems pretty cool, though I haven't gotten my hands on them. Contrary to popular belief, Redemption is not the first game. Red Dead Revolver was released on the PlayStation 2 and X-Box. My favorite thus far would have to be inFAMOUS.

But, there's still a little bit more out there. First-Person Shooters. There's ID software's newest IP, Rage. It's pretty open, and has got a very immerse, living world. Plus, it's got vehicle combat. And it's a heck of a lot better than the usual vehicle sections you find in today's FPSes. Ghost Recon is pretty cool, and one of the most realistic shooters I've ever seen. The only one I can think of that's even more so is ARMA. Though, I'm not certain if it's open-world or not. I know Far Cry is. It's on an island, and you can even build your own levels or something. Plus, it's got some of the greatest AI and weather condition systems I've ever seen in the last generation. But, what's easily the best for me to recommend in open-world first-person shooters has got to be the one and only... Serious Sam.

So, I would most recommend...
