Basically I hit a brick wall lately. My gaming PC is out of reach and I lost my copy of Diablo 2. I thought maybe the kind and helpful people at the Escapist can help me out here. I need something long and satisfying so RPGs should do the trick but I have a disorder with old school PC games like Baldurs Gate ( I can't play anything past the 2002 era or my PC will scream and shout at me.) I always get the feeling of being lost and not having the ability to continue on. It doesn't necessarily have to be a RPG as I'm up for anything to kill boredom
PC specs:
Ram:384MB
Processor:Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 400 64mb
Edit:Operating System: Windows XP

Try Betrayal at Krondor - if you don't mind VGA graphics it runs well on Dosbox (and I believe is official abandonware so you aren't breaking any piracy laws downloading it). Very good plot and quite immersive.

Hmm I'll be sure to check it out. I never used Dosbox though, how does it work?

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition isn't bad. It's definitely attention-getting.

Just remember to get the enhanced edition. The regular version is full of bugs, and really, really bad design flaws. They're almost two different games.

Deus Ex it's first person...<.<
I felt a little nauseated after going through the tutorial so I put it down half way through the level.

Morrowind and Half-Life 1, that should do it :)
I played Morrowind before and had the same feeling of being lost, most likely a problem with open world games I guess. I have the same problem Half Life 1 as Deus Ex

Sorry I'm narrowing it down too much.

Deus ex or Morrowind or, if your Comp can run it (I think it can), Knights of the old republic
My top 3 games ever :)

Many people found the first 2 or 3 levels of Deus ex boring. Endure those first levels, believe me, it will pay off later :)

You can probably run KotOR with a 2GHz machine but if not you can certainly run X-COM. In case you haven't heard of X-COM, it's a 3-D isometric turn-based strategy game with separate tactical combat and base management games. The first computer game I ever bought and if not the best game I've ever played (too close to call) it's easily in the top three.

A few years ago I saw it on the web somewhere as a free download and it's from 1994 so your cell phone could probably run it without difficulty.

Edit: Damn! Someone else mentioned KotOR while I was typing.
Well +1 for KotOR then, all hail the best Star Wars game of all time!

Starcraft & Starcraft Brood War.
It runs on pretty much everything, and the campaign of both will chew up some time.
Especially if you never cheat since some missions can be pretty darned hard if not done right.

Edit: then there's Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, which will probably run better on your old PC than on most new ones.
And Freelancer is something I feel everyone should play, since I'm assuming from the specs you gave that it's a laptop, Freelancer is nigh on impossible to play without a mouse or a joystick.

Baldur's Gate I and/or II
They are very good and long games, and BG II came out in 2000 so it should be ok.

If you can't play it then I apologize but I didn't really understand what you meant by "having a disorder with old school games like Baldur's Gate"

It's not a laptop, it's an actual desktop so I'll try Freelancer. Also Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines requires more ram the minimum system lists so I wasn't able to play that.

If you have even a passing interest in Space combat games you won't be disappointed by Freelancer. I dug up the minimum specs for it, here [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/814552], and they are a fair bit below your specs.

Not (m)any phones have 2GHz processors ;)

That said, my phone is a budget offering and has more RAM and likely the graphics is as powerful :p

Someone should port Starcraft 1 to Android.
